Clearstream as premier provider of settlement & custody services needs to ensure continuous monitoring of service delivery processes and processing performance, establish and maintain strong operational controls and co-ordinate business contingency measures to comply with laws, regulations, policies and procedures. The Securities Reconciliation Team performs business control functions in a highly regulated work environment.
The Securities Reconciliation unit covers the security reconciliation process for Investment Funds with primary focus on Alternative and Mutual Funds.
Your area of work:
As a Securities Reconciliation Officer you will be responsible for the daily reconciliation of security positions that are held in Clearstream against the external custodians that hold the positions in the respective markets.
You will be assigned a set of Transfer Agents for whom you will be independently in charge of all securities reconciliation matters.
Your responsibilities:
- Review of non-automatically reconciled items identified by the reconciliation processing.
- Daily reconciliation of recorded internal securities balances against positions reported by external custodians.
- Detailed investigation of differences incl. the identification of the root cause, identification of the corrective measure required, the allocation to the internal/external stakeholder that caused the difference and the follow-up until the difference is solved.
- Regular reporting of reconciliation status for each custodian.
- Ensure regulatory compliance (e.g. CSDR) in the securities reconciliation process (i.e. ensuring daily reconciliation, investigation and allocation of reconciliations breaks, ensuring the integrity of the issue by identifying undue deletion or creation of securities in the reconciliation breaks.)
- Maintaining strong and effectively working connections to internal and external counterparties and understanding how they operate
- Have a continuous improvement mind set to seek out and implement new and better ways of achieving objectives, preventing errors or delays reoccurring, and automating and streamlining processes within the team. Be forward looking and solution minded.
- Provide a pro-active contribution to ensure individual and team targets and objectives are being achieved within required deadlines.
- Be risk aware and take all steps necessary to minimise errors including fully complying with existing procedures and staying aware of procedure changes.
- Escalate and advise any relevant issues to Management as necessary.
- Assist in project work where required.
Your profile:
- University degree in finance, business administration or similar field of studies, preferred but not required.
- Ideally, the candidate will have relevant experience in investment funds and well-developed understanding of business context and processes.
- Knowledge of Clearstream systems as well as an understanding of Clearstream’s ICSD and CSD business an advantage.
- Previous working experience in finance or administration, including reconciliation tasks is an advantage.
- Good analytical skills and detail orientation (e. g. ability to analyze complex financial processes linked to settlement, corporate actions, income, order routing, etc.).
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Technical affinity (understanding and working with complex inhouse IT systems).
- Responsible individual with capability to adapt and to quickly acquire new working methodologies.
- Independent trouble shooter and fast learner.
- Strong team player in an international environment.
- Very good written and spoken English for daily communication with internal and external counterparties. Any other language is an advantage
