  • The GTS Business Development team is responsible for the origination of GTS transactions across both our Global Banking (GB) and Commercial Banking (CMB) client base. Our client portfolio includes industry leaders and flagship clients with large and often complex operations across multiple countries. Our team provides solutions to help these clients manage their cross-border trading risk and improve working capital across their value chain. We are at the forefront of trade finance technology developments and a leading industry collaborator with Fintech and independent market platforms.
  • Within GTS, CTF BDMs cover GB and CMB corporate clients:
    • requiring commodity finance: energy (oil & gas, renewables), metals & mining, agricultural goods;
    • based in Continental Europe, or which are Continental Europe subsidiaries of multinationals.

The CTF team has high visibility across the region and within the broader organisation.

What you will do:

You will be reporting to the Head of Sales France - CTF and working with senior Commodity Trade Finance BDMs.
The role requires regular client engagement and communication with internal stakeholders to make sure client requests are dealt with in an appropriate fashion.
It also involves the preparation of numerous documents, both internal (e.g. credit applications, annual reviews, client plannings, etc.) and external (e.g. client pitches, term sheets, responses to RfP’s).

In this role you will:
  • Provide support and assistance to senior BDM’s with day-to-day client engagement, profitability calculation, call reports.
  • Draft credit applications or annual reviews in relation to structured transactions.
  • Join client calls along with the opportunity to lead some calls as when ready under the supervision of the senior BDM.
  • Engage with Middle-Office, Client Services and Operations teams to ensure client queries and service delivery are actioned efficiently.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders such as relationship bankers, portfolio management, credit, legal, compliance, tax etc.
  • Review legal documentations in relation to financings (vanilla as well as structured finance transactions).
  • Develop expertise to help senior BDM’s drive and deliver as per HSBC’s strategies and growth initiatives.
  • Develop expertise on the HSBC Sustainability strategy and help identify ESG related GTS opportunities.
  • Conduct sales performance analytics - using CRM systems such as CME and income reporting tools such as Omnia to understand the revenue stream of the business and identify trends. This includes the identification of missing fees/charges and the coordination of action to rectify.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of GTS management information, analysis and reporting framework.
  • Get strong knowledge and experience on how Commodity clients and Trade Finance facilities are structured and how they work.


Conditions

You should apply if you have:
  • Fluent English (written & spoken). French is a plus but not a must.
  • Very strong experience in MS Excel and MS Power Point tools.
  • Knowledge of Credit & Risk including techniques to mitigate risk.
  • Good organisational skills with an ability to effectively prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and presentation skills combined with rigorous working methods.
  • Strong commercial orientation combined with a customer-driven approach.
  • Experience in working in intellectually demanding and agile multinational teams.
  • A strong desire to learn combined with a taste for teamwork.
  • Ability to interact with senior executives.
