Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Materials/Chemical Engineer (f/m) based in Marignane, France.

The successful applicant will join the Material Lab within Engineering.

The Laboratory is in charge of performing investigations, analysis and tests on different materials (metallic, organic, surface treatments…) at all major steps of a helicopter life: research and development of new material and production processes, certification, support for industry and support & services.

Mission:

In the domain of surface treatments and painting, the laboratory activity is increasing in the frame of qualification and implementation of new processes in our industry. You will be responsible for this package, in addition to the regular support of industry for the current manufacturing processes. Your main interfaces will be the Industry, but also the Design office, Quality department and some external laboratories.

Tasks:

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Being one of the technical referent for chemical analysis, for environmental and corrosion testing.

  • Plan (Quotation, validation and schedule) the test campaigns, but also to coordinate them (subcontract and/or alignment with customer if necessary), perform the tests/analysis defined, and to document and validate the analysis and conclusions for test reports

  • As a team member of the laboratory, you will take care to apply and maintain the quality management system (ISO17025) including the maintenance of equipment with potential investments of your technical domain

  • In delegation and in coordination with Industry, you will have to perform the technical monitoring of the dosing subcontracting for the surface treatment baths, to review the analysis data of surface treatment baths and to support the Quality department during renewal audits.

  • And as technical referent you will keep internal specifications up to date and develop new test methods with training associated and contribute to our lab technical roadmap for your domain.

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

  • Five-year degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or Chemical and/or Phys/chemical engineering

  • At least a 3- to 5-year global experience.

  • Knowledge on surface treatments and chemical analysis

  • French - English: fluent / advanced

  • Service / customer orientated mindset

  • Knowledge on material laboratory test methods

  • Autonomous and well communicating

  • Ability to understand synthesis and explain technical problems
