Wakam is a B2B2C insurance company that creates white-label insurance solutions via its Play&Plug® technology platform for more than 80 partners. We provide most of our insurance products through API, and hosts white label insurance solutions via our Play&Plug technology platform.

Mission

You will join the Wakam Underwriting leadership team to help us profitably grow our business across Europe. You will report to the Group CUO.

Key responsibilities include:

  • You will lead the underwriting strategy and operations across all product lines, ensuring alignment with Wakam Group's strategic and financial goals for profitability and efficiency.
  • Developing and managing portfolio management standards, monitoring technical performance, and guiding pricing and underwriting actions for each line of business alongside Business Heads and pricing actuaries.
  • Being accountable for the financial underwriting results of our European operations.
  • Providing leadership, support and guidance on the management of all aspects of underwriting and related activities
  • Responsible for the underwriting decisions in respect of material insurance risks
  • Ensuring all activities comply with regulatory standards and maintaining robust governance.
  • Leading the creation and refinement of underwriting policies.
  • Overseeing European Underwriting Committees and other necessary committees.

Profile

  • Experienced leader with around 10 years of relevant experience in leading Underwriting, Pricing, or a line of business function in European or UK markets.
  • Experience overseeing a range of insurance product lines, especially in Motor, Home, and SME sectors.
  • Advanced skills in portfolio management.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, adept at building trusted relationships with leaders and stakeholders.
  • Strong people management abilities, with a proven track record of developing and sustaining high-performing teams.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adaptable to change. Takes calculated risks and anticipates potential issues
  • A passion for continuous innovation.
  • Fluency in both French and English is mandatory.
