Role & Responsibilities
Cafeyn offers users the possibility to explore and consume content from more than a thousand publications, both in traditional print and digital media. Data Science lies at the heart of the product by supporting users to navigate the overabundance of content. The focus of Machine Learning is on understanding content, understanding users and their behaviour, and recommending relevant content at the right time.
Your missions:
The internship is aimed at researching innovative ways to deal with textual content. The concrete assignment depends on the skills and interest of the applicant, but could include a study on:
- using snippets from articles to answer a natural language query and implement a PoC RAG.
- how different ways of presenting subject matter in articles affect consumption and appreciation
- how facts and viewpoints in articles can be used to educate consumers
Background: Student in their final year of Master's degree from an engineering school or a University degree in data science / ML / statistics related fields

Willingness to try out, play, and experiment with new ML techniques, particular emerging LLM techniques
Identifying new and innovative ideas and testing state-of-the-art methods from scratch based on recent research articles or technical publications
Comfortable using Python and being comfortable using popular Data Science libraries (Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-Learn, …)
Period: 6 months or the required duration of the MSc internship
Location: Paris, at least 3 days/week at the office
