Job description

FRANCE - IP LAWYER - CORPORATE LEGAL

Have you ever heard of Global Finance & Legal ? Let’s take a look together:

Beauty is our DNA. From the very first hair dye L’Oréal produced in 1909 to our innovative Beauty Tech products and services today, our company has been a pure player and leader in the beauty sector worldwide for decades. That is why, our work at Global Finance & Legal continues to evolve to support the Group as it faces new challenges every day. We are fully involved in the Group’s strategy and convinced of the importance of non-financial and responsible performance going forward. We are also an essential partner in the Group’s ambitious new sustainable development programme, L’Oréal for the Future. We commit to act on environmental and social issues.

Would you like to be a part of this adventure? Join our Corporate Intellectual Property legal team as an Intellectual Property Lawyer.

The L’Oréal Intellectual Property team’s mission is to secure, enhance, and defend the Group’s intellectual property rights.

Here’s the role you will play in this team:

  • Implement a trademark clearance strategy, taking into account key launch territories, distinctiveness, and operating conditions of the trademarks identified during prior art searches, as well as actions that can be taken to mitigate risks (e.g., cancellation actions, agreements).
    • Manage an intellectual property (IP) portfolio in collaboration with a global network of external counsel: monitoring registration procedures, renewals, recording ownership changes (e.g., post-acquisition), and monitoring trademark filings by third parties.
    • Negotiate and draft contracts related to IP rights, including license agreements, assignment agreements, coexistence agreements, transactional agreements, and collaboration agreements with third parties.
    • Manage administrative and legal disputes, both offensive and defensive: opposition proceedings, cancellation or invalidation actions, infringement actions, and/or unfair competition and parasitism actions.
    • Train and raise awareness among Marketing teams and countries on key intellectual property principles; drafting guidelines and implementing best practices.
  • The skills you will need to succeed:

    • Hard Skills: Expertise in intellectual property law (trademarks, designs, domain names, copyright) with required skills in contracts and litigation, bilingual in English.
    • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, capacity to work independently and as part of a team, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • If you have a degree in Intellectual Property Law (Master’s degree or equivalent) and have 8 to 10 years of experience in both law firms and in-house, you are ready for this extraordinary adventure!

Convinced yet? Just in case, here’s a few more compelling facts. Throughout this journey, you will experience:
    • #growth - at L’Oréal, growing comes from being in constant motion. We grow with others, by exploring and by reaching out for more. Together, we try, succeed and sometimes fail. We give transformational trainings and learning opportunities that make employees unleash the best in themselves.
    • #diversity - at L’Oréal, our teams are diverse as the billions of consumers we create for, we embrace difference of origins, cultures, life experiences and beliefs. We commit to fostering an inclusive environment where we celebrate differences.
