Investment Banking has an integrated worldwide set-up offering a comprehensive range of advisory and capital raising services to accompany its clients thanks to strong sector and product knowledge, and proven capabilities in both local and cross-border executions. It is about accompanying clients on all of their investment banking needs from strategic advisory, mergers & acquisitions, ECM & DCM transactions..

Our SG DCM Financial Institutions Origination team in Frankfurt advises German and Austrian clients in their debt market funding and hybrid capital raising activities. In this highly competitive environment a close proximity to global capital markets and a deep understanding of our clients as well as the underlying industry dynamics are key.

As VIE in the local DCM team in Frankfurt you will work in a challenging and demanding working environment in the field of Investment Banking / Corporate Finance by supporting senior team members in the origination and execution of DCM transactions. You will have the possibility to work with experienced colleagues on interesting and diverse projects.

By taking over the position as VIE in our DCM team you will get deep insight in the field of Investment Banking, in particular DCM business, of a leading European bank. You will have the chance to gather practical insights into the functioning of capital markets, develop your knowledge about fixed income products & Client relationship management as well as your research skills and thus, to benefit from a steep learning curve.

As VIE you will provide support to the senior team members in all aspects of their activities, with a strong focus on the preparation of client pitches, daily updates as well as maintaining the databases of the team. You will closely cooperate with the other DCM support teams in London, Paris, Milan, Madrid and New York.

During your VIE mission you will be in charge of these responsibilities
• Prepare frequent client presentations, written market and pricing updates and client marketing documents under the supervision of senior originators
• Maintain and develop databases and tools to follow market activity
• Conduct analysis on market trends, investor demand, transactions, etc...
• Prepare internal analysis and presentations for the benefit of the full DCM Financial Institutions team
• Assist in the execution of DCM mandates
• Provide support on internal / administrative tasks (reporting, pipeline, budget, management presentations, monitoring of league tables, ...)

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:

  • Graduate with a Master's degree from a Business School or University, ideally with a major in Management or Corporate Finance
  • A previous experience (e.g. as trainee) in Debt Capital Markets, Securitization or Financial Engineering

Language skills:
  • Fluent in English
  • German skills would be appreciated

Technical, operational & soft skills:
  • Good quantitative & financial skills
  • Very good command of the MS Office package (especially Excel & Powerpoint)
  • Experience with Bloomberg would be appreciated


The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Frankfurt is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12months.

In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France's eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information (including your financial indemnities), please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.
