As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will help to build Combo’s Core Engine, which is the foundation of our entire product. Your objective is to develop the product in order to maximize the value it brings to our users: company directors, managers, HR managers.
Combo’s Tech & Product team is about 50+ people and growing. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to mentor, coach, and enable our squads within the Engines perimeter (around a dozen of people). You will join and be a part of the next decisive chapter of Combo towards becoming a scale-up and building the best HR solution for SMBs and frontline workers.
We’ve got many challenges ahead of us: building a solid and flexible architecture using decoupled and distributed systems on functional domains, mentoring, coaching the team, and contributing to Combo’s Engineering culture.
We’re looking for passionate individuals with ambition who can take our squads to the next level in terms of processes, skillset, impact, and excellence.
Our stack today is made of Ruby, NodeJS, TypeScript, React, Postgres, Redis, GCP, Kubernetes, GitHub, GitHub Actions, etc.
How are we organized?
Each squad is made up of one or two PM, EM, 2 to 8 Devs (back-end, front-end and/or full-stack) and, depending on requirements, a Designer or QA.
Product and Tech teams are experts in their product areas and corresponding users’ issues, they are autonomous in defining and achieving their quarterly and annual objectives, which are aligned with the company’s product strategy.
Act as an enabler for your squad(s) by improving processes and practices in a learning environment and helping with cross-squad teamwork
Coordination within your squad(s): unblock and facilitate collaboration and alignment
Empower your squad members towards increasing delivery proficiency to achieve high-level output and outcome
Guide through design and implementation and help the squad make the best technical decisions
People management and growth: hiring, mentoring, coaching, setting goals of 7-10 Engineers
Contribute to our Engineering culture and promote it
Work with passionate teams of Engineers, Product Managers, Quality Engineers, customer support, and other colleagues in a friendly and international environment
At least 5 years of Engineering Management experience
Strong technical background with previous Software Engineer experience (5+ years)
Have experience building & scaling high-performing teams
You own the SDLC, you are process and metric-driven, and drive the performance of your team through data
Excellent communication skills, both top-down and bottom-up
Open-minded and ready to receive and give feedback to team members
You’re fluent in English
Experience with remote teams
Bonus: passionate about part of our stack: Ruby, Node, React, TS
