The legal team is currently composed of 3 people. Nicolas heads the legal team. Prior to joining Roundtable in September 2022 (as #3 employee), Nicolas worked at Linklaters LLP as a litigator. We are looking for a Junior Legal Counsel to intervene on some of the hottest co-investments deals on the venture capital market (throughout the world) and to make those deals happen from a legal point of view.
Given the broad variety of responsibilities and the emphasis Roundtable places on the legal dimensions, you will become a legal professional blending the versatility of an in-house counsel with the expertise of a lawyer!
Your responsibilities as Junior Legal Counsel:
On a daily basis, work with various fields of law and will become an expert at managing the balance between corporate, tax and regulatory implications, always keeping an holistic view:
Corporate: You will be faced, on a daily basis, with a wide array of corporate questions relating to the structuring and management of the co-investment vehicles, both in France and in Luxembourg. You will be exposed to several legal systems (France, Germany, US, UK, Luxembourg, Spain, etc) and will need to understand their corporate intricacies.
Tax: With several types of investment vehicles and investors coming from all places, you will become an expert at managing the ever-changing tax rules (in Luxembourg and France mainly).
Regulatory : As Roundtable operates in a regulated environment, you will be confronted with questions arising out of MIFID, AIFMD, the Prospectus Regulation and so on.
Of course, we don’t expect you to know all of this when you join!
Ensure a continuous legal watch to identify opportunities for legal innovation and ensure we are always at the edge of what is feasible.
Work closely with product, sales and operations teams to define, automate and improve our legal processes.
Assist on day-to-day legal matters of the company (e.g., Compliance, Corporate, IP, Tax).
Manage, interact with and coordinate high-caliber stakeholders - you will interact with top European Venture capital Partners, investors and lawyers working at reputable law firms
Grow with Roundtable’s legal team.
As an early employee and all along the life of the company your role will be at the center of Roundtable’s strategy.
Main Challenges :
The main challenges you will be confronted to are:
Striking the right balance between constantly being extremely rigorous while bringing pragmatic solutions to the table.
Multidimensional and complex constraints (Regulatory, Tax, Corporate).
Navigating multi-local and non-harmonised regulatory, tax, and corporate frameworks across Europe.
About you
You have a Master’s degree in law obtained from a European university.
You have a first successful professional experience as an intern or associate in a law firm or in the legal department of a company with up to two years of professional experience in this environment.
Your specialisation does not matter, but your willingness to deep dive into areas beyond your field of expertise is crucial for your success at Roundtable. An affinity with (or a strong desire to learn about) tax law is a plus!
You are fluent in English and French.
You are solution-oriented and proactive (not only within your legal expertise).
You demonstrate extreme rigour and integrity.
You master legal research.
