Our history
bioMérieux's commitment to public health and its expertise in biology are rooted in the unique history of the Mérieux family. The story begins in 1897 when Marcel Mérieux, a student of Louis Pasteur, founded Institut Mérieux. In 1937, Dr. Charles Mérieux took over the reins of Institut Mérieux. bioMérieux was founded in 1963 by Alain Mérieux and, since 2017, Alexandre Mérieux became Chairman and CEO. At bioMérieux, we design, develop and manufacture diagnostic solutions (instruments, reagents, software and services) for healthcare professionals and industry players to make confident decisions to improve patient outcomes and ensure consumer safety.

Mérieux University
Supporting our teams in their professional development is a priority for us. Convinced of the importance of lifelong training, we can count on the collaboration between our Learning & Development experts and the Mérieux University (MU) teams. MU, the corporate university created in 2014 by our family holding company, Institut Mérieux, is a space for collaboration, training and innovation for our team members.

Mérieux Université's team of 24 people includes six certified internal coaches who work with managers or teams facing major professional transformations.

Academy
The University structures and runs, in close collaboration with the group's various business lines and experts, progressive training courses using a wide range of teaching methods. The objective of these Academies is to ensure that employees' skills are enhanced, to anticipate the skills of tomorrow and to spread a common culture.
In addition, the University designs and organises Management, Leadership and Communication training - both face-to-face and virtual - for all employees of the Group's entities.
