AFP, one of the world’s leading news agencies, is seeking a Dhaka-based Digital Investigation Editor to fight mis/disinformation in Bangladesh.
The role is an exciting opportunity to be a part of AFP’s award-winning fact-checking network, which has taken a leading role in the global fight against mis/disinformation.
The Digital Investigation Editor will work closely with the Asia-Pacific regional editing team to guide stories from pitch to publication. The editor will also work closely with the Digital Investigation Reporter in the Dhaka bureau to edit and assist with their fact checks.
The editor will sometimes write fact checks in English and Bengali on mis/disinformation circulating in Bangladesh and across the region.
From time to time, the editor will also pitch and write stories on mis/disinformation for the wire.
While the editor will specialise in fact-checking, duties will also extend to other reporting roles in the bureau depending on the demands of the daily news coverage.
In an ever-changing media environment, the nature of the job could evolve in line with coverage demands and the requirements of an increasingly diverse client base.
The successful candidate will contribute to the fight against mis/disinformation and will have undertaken digital verification training.

Candidates must have the ability to write and edit Bengali-language articles to a native standard and have a strong command of English. Other regional languages would be an asset
Candidates should have precise writing skills, strong editorial judgment, an eye for detail and good communication skills
Previous fact-checking experience is a bonus
The ideal candidate will show abilities to work in a fast-paced multimedia newsroom, meet tight deadlines and multitask
Other media skills — including in photography, video and graphics — would also be valuable
