Agence France-Presse, one of the world’s leading news agencies, seeks a dynamic video journalist/coordinator to join its Sydney newsroom.
The successful candidate will produce and organize coverage of breaking news, angles and features in Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Island nations.
The video journalist/coordinator will be a self-starter capable of proposing, planning, and organizing video coverage in all formats, especially in breaking news situations, consulting as needed with editors in Sydney and Hong Kong.
The role includes guiding and developing the video freelancer network in the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific region.
The video journalist/coordinator will ensure complete coverage by obtaining video as needed from other sources: official bodies; other news organizations; or UGC after verifying the content and getting permission for its use.
Depending on news requirements, the correspondent will travel across the Pacific region and may be asked to go on missions elsewhere in the world.
News demands may require working evenings and weekends.
The successful candidate will contribute to the fight against misinformation by helping factcheckers in the network and ensure they are trained in the various methods of online verification, now indispensable for all journalism. Online training is available here

Excellent English writing skills.
