A vacancy for a Certification & Qualification Engineer (CQE) has arisen within Airbus Helicopters in Marignane ! This CQE will support the Aiworthiness Office (AWO) as being the initial airworthiness specialist in his technical field of expertise.
The AWO is the designated interface for the various Airworthiness Authorities in Europe, US, Canada, Japan, China and the rest of the world.
Its main missions cover the entire Helicopter life cycle, starting from technical involvement at an early development stage to review the certification readiness level and propose mitigation for certification risks, and extending through type certification approval, foreign validation, and support to in-service operation by continued airworthiness management.
Within the AWO, the Initial Airworthiness Core Metier team has the role of providing expertise to:
Support the operational certification activities in case of novelties, special design features, controversial issues or where standardisation is necessary, Develop and maintain the AH certification/qualification knowledge base, including involvement in rulemaking and development of internal technical referential and airworthiness policies Develop airworthiness people competences and practices ensuring training and tutoring within the AH Engineering Academy Support DOA with nomination of CVE and certification processes improvements
To fulfill this Mission, the team is organized in a technical domain structure, following a model of knowledge ownership.
The open position is linked the Airworthiness domain Powerplant, Environment Control Systems, and Environmental Protection, which includes as its main elements:
Powerplant certification: Engine installation, Fuel System, Fire Protection
Environment Control System : Ventilation, Bleed Air, Air Conditioning, Icing Protection
Environmental Protection: External Noise, Emissions, fuel venting

Your challenges
Support to certification projects:
Active involvement in the management of complex and/or novel Certification Projects in close co-operation with the chief airowortiness engineer team.
Definition of certification concepts, participation to the development of new certification strategies or policies within the Airbus Group and with external stakeholders.
Formalization of the AH position on Certification Review Item (CRIs) or Issue Papers (IPs) for the assigned domain.
Acting as CQE Senior and main interface with Aviation Authorities at Panel level (EASA Panel 7: Powerplant, Panel 8: ECS, Panel 9: Noise/Emission) for primary Type Certification (TC) and Major Changes and support foreign certification/validation activities.
Airworthiness Knowledge:
Establish, maintain and deploy inside and outside the AWO, certification methodology guidance, and technical referential.
Monitor correct application of this guidance both technically and procedurally.
Acting as lead commenter for the Noticed of Proposed Amendment to Regulation in the field of expertise
Keep a regular and active exchange on rulemaking and policies topics within the AIRBUS Group and national and international Working Groups.
Airworthiness People:
Active involvement in the process of authorization of staff taking airworthiness decisions.
Develop, update and give training to disseminate knowledge and experience within the field of expertise
Act as tutor, coach, advisor for certification engineers
Support to DOA:
Support improvements of DOA process related to the field of expertise,
Active involvement in the resolution of DOA findings
Your profile
You will have the following skills and experience:
Educated to a 5 years’ degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline.
10+ years including 5y in airworthiness as DAE, CVE, or CQE.
Experience in the certification of helicopters and/or helicopter systems is a plus.
Experience in the development of helicopters and/or helicopter systems is a plus
Ability for analysis and technical synthesis
