Job Description:
What if your professional adventure started at Airbus !
Are you looking for an internship or for a gap year internship allowing you to validate your diploma this year?
We would like to give you the opportunity to work for a world-leading company in its field, focused on digital technology, at the forefront of research and innovation.
We offer an internship: «STAGE 2025 - “Advanced filtering techniques for spacecraft attitude control” (f/m) » at Airbus Defence and Space in Toulouse-Palays. You will join the AOCS/GNC advanced studies department, in charge of preliminary design, research, development and technology (R&D&T) activities related to spacecraft guidance and control. You will join a dynamic team, featuring a large amount of research interests: feasibility and sizing analyses, high bandwidth control for space mechanisms, design of new AOCS concepts and microvibration impact assessment.
The ever-growing ambition of space missions leads to complex, even composite, spacecraft configurations where traditional robust control laws fail to simultaneously ensure the desired performance and robustness margins. Airbus, as a major player in the space ecosystem, develops innovative solutions to reach these objectives : control of an optical terminal line-of-sight within a microradian (on the TELEO demonstrator), science instrument subject to non-linear structural behaviour (on missions such as JUICE), …
Your internship will consist in identifying and prototyping advanced control and/or estimation algorithms, among which adaptive techniques (MRAC, ANC) appear to be promising candidates. In a second phase, you will demonstrate the added value of these algorithms on concrete industrial cases, putting them into perspective with respect to classical approaches (Hinf control, PID, Kalman Filter).
This is a 6-month internship and it should start in March 2025 (start date subject to flexibility).
This position requires a security clearance (site access) or requires to be eligible for clearance by recognized authorities.
Main tasks and activities:
Your tutor will support you identify your professional objectives and develop your skills.
You will contribute to the following activities:
Ramp-up on an industrial use-case and related problem statement,
Literature review of relevant control or estimation techniques,

Demonstration of the added value of the identified algorithms,
This internship will allow you to develop the following skills:
Analysis and synthesis of advanced control and estimation algorithms,
Understanding of the current and future challenges of pointing laws,
Industrial R&D approach, technical documentation writing.
Your Boarding Pass:
You are preparing a diploma level Bac+5 (or equivalent) in Control/Robotics, and you will develop the following competences:
Good knowledge of control theory, filtering, and modeling and simulation of dynamical systems,
Fluency in MATLAB/Simulink,
Demonstrated research experience is an asset,
