FSI team:

This role sits within the FSI team at Alvarez and Marsal in Paris. Our FSI practice provides assistance to financial institutions which are seeking organic or inorganic growth opportunities, requires restructuring or is seeking to conduct strategic reviews.  Working directly with our client’s management, A&M’s involvement reassures all stakeholders that the company is taking important steps to address its problems and to maximise value.

We work with clients across the Financial Services industry including; on Banks, Private Equity investors, Regulatory authorities, Insurers, wealth and asset managers and other specialised FS firms. A&M’s FSI professionals work on some of the world’s most high-profile cases in a rapidly transforming financial services landscape, striving for game-changing solutions that provide impactful long-term change.  The team’s core market is France, but there are opportunities to work across Europe and in emerging markets. Our global team is comprised of seasoned financial services executives from diverse backgrounds, former senior industry executives, financial institution regulators and highly skilled consultants. 

The Purpose of the Associate / Senior Associate role: 

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to use your financial services and/or consultancy experience to become involved in a ‘hands on’ team.  As a valued member of the FSI Paris team, you will work on a variety of projects, leveraging your financial services industry knowledge and your experience of financial modelling to support the senior team members in managing large and complex transformation programs, cost reduction initiatives, winding down non-core assets and above all else generating impact for our clients. 

You will contribute to work streams on large programs but also smaller projects, leveraging your financial services knowhow and skill set in analysing the status quo and developing sound solutions either from an external point of view or in collaborative settings with your client organization.   

As part of the FSI Team, you will be working closely with Senior Directors and Managing Directors.   You will benefit from constant exposure to the senior members of the team and gain ‘on the job’ learning and development, leveraging their substantial experience. 

In joining a growing business, you will also have the opportunity be involved in business development activities, where the team discuss new opportunities and the development of innovative offerings for our market. You will be actively involved in these discussions and feel an integrated part of the wider FSI team. 

Responsibilities: 

You will support the delivery of transformation projects within financial institutions, where identifying disruptive transformation levers and managing political complexity will be key to generate significant and sustainable savings. Assignments will focus on delivering large and complex transformation programs for leading Tier 1 European banks bringing high added value to our clients (disruption mindset, restructuring DNA, acceleration of the transformation). 

To this effectively, you will need to: 

  • Work closely with senior stakeholders in the client’s business and with professionals from leading financial institutions; 

  • Manage consultant teams and interactions with client; 

  • Be creative to generate break through ideas regarding transformation levers; 

  • Demonstrate leadership to drive disruptive transformation approach; 

  • Develop and demonstrate both strategic mindset and pragmatism; 

  • Own a workstream autonomously;

  • Be an action-oriented self-starter with strong analytical skills and entrepreneurial flair; 

  • Have a strong exposure to client, be able to deal with top executives in complex situation; 

  • High standard regarding French writing skills due to high exposure to top management.


Preferred experience

  • Education: graduation from a Tier 1 Business School or Engineering School;

  • Experience in financial services advisory in large scale transformation program, highly exposed to top management, with leading financial services players in the French market; 

  • Native/Fluent French & English language skills are essential along with excellent writing skills;  

  • Strong project management capabilities, stakeholder management skills at senior levels; 

  • Willingness to travel often (mainly within Europe); 

  • EU citizenship or right to work in the EU; 

  • Mix of hard and soft skills, drive and leadership, ability to generate impact, assertiveness; 

  • Outstanding analytical and presentation skills.
