The position

Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Senior Surface Chemistry Specialist to join our team, specializing in the development and optimization of surface modifications/funtionalization of microfluidic chips for cell therapy processing applications. You will work closely with the Cell Therapy applications team and collaborate with various R&D teams involved in the development of our Lakhesys Benchtop Cell Factory™ and its software, to create high-performance surface modifications of microfluidic chips that play a crutial role in the performance of end-to-end microfluidic cell processing.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement advanced chemical coating strategies that specifically target cells of interest and enhance long-term cell culture, utilizing statistical experimental planning using DOE methodologies.

  • Perform, validate and scale-up bioproduction processes, ensuring high-quality and reproductible results.

  • Develop and implement advanced characterization methods to analyze coating properties, assess performance, and predict long-term cell culture outcomes.

  • Work closely with the Lakhesys team and provide technical support for process development, optimization and validation.

  • Maintain detailed record of experimental results, process optimizations, and performance evalutation, and effectively communicate findings to the management team and steakholders.


Preferred experience

Technical Skills:

  • 3 years of post-doc/academic or start-up experience with expertise in Polymer, Membrane or Surface Chemistry.

  • Skilled in functionalised surface and their effect on cell behavior.

  • Understanding of biomaterial-cell interactions, like biocompatibility and cell adhesion.

  • Skilled in independently designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, solving scientificand experimental problems, and applying statistical design of experiments (DOE) to optimize processes and ensure reliable results.

  • Advanced knowledge of molecular interaction analysis methodologies, using basic software like Microsoft Office, FlowJo, GraphPad.

  • Familiarity with characterization methods including microscopy and flow cytometry.

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills:

  • Ability to communicate complex scientifics problems and approaches clearly both in writing and orally.

  • Team player with excellent communication skills.

  • Proficient in French and English.

  • Dynamism, perseverance and resilience.

  • Demonstrated ability to autonomously solve complex scientific problems.

  • High learning agility.
