The position

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Strategic Partnerships and Digital Transformation Intern to join our team for 6 months.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the development of the socio-economic philanthropy partnerships, gain hands on experience on the AXA Research Fund’s strategic partnership landscape and deep dive into digital transformation and operational management within a dynamic and innovative environment. More specifically, you will help us support selection process management for high quality results of project call and support important initiatives for bridging the science-policy gap including work on events and seminars to valorize research outcomes.

Within the Group, you will join the AXA Research Fund. The AXA Research Fund is AXA Group’s scientific philanthropy initiative. Its mission is to support independent academic research in key areas related to risk and to inform science-based decision-making to address the most important issues facing our planet.

Since 2008, the AXA Research Fund has supported almost 720 research projects led by researchers in over 300 universities in 38 countries. The missions of the AXA Fund are to finance innovative research projects to inform public decision-making and make research accessible to the greatest number of people. As part of its mandate, the Fund engages with a range of strategic partners including international organizations (e.g. IPCC, UNESCO), world class research institutions (e.g. Cambridge University, Bocconi University, ETH Zürich), industry research centers (Swiss Re Institute), foundations (Red Cross) and many more. These partnerships complement our research portfolio by championing research around selected risk topics and targeting specific geographies (Africa). In addition, the Partnerships serve as a platform for exchange, bringing together leading minds of different research fields, to position knowledge into transformation action agendas across science, business, and public policy.

Within the AXA Research Fund, you will report to the Senior Partnerships and Development Manager and the Fund Operations Manager to work transversally across topics to inform the Funds Strategy and Operations.

What you will be doing

  • Project Management and Knowledge Dissemination:
    • Support the management of ongoing partnerships by developing project plans, drafting and reviewing call documents, development of briefs for steering committee meetings, event planning.
    • Support the induction and onboarding on researchers selected under the theme of “Navigating misinformation and trust erosion in the digital age”
    • Provide input to the develop of strategies to bridge the science-policy gap (research dissemination) and assist in positioning research outcomes in the right decision-making platforms for instance with CEPR, OECD and AXA entities.
    • Work on the production of event and research summaries highlighting research conducted in strategic partnerships and the socio-economic ecosystem together with management and researchers,
    • Liaise with the communication team to devise internal & external communication strategies to support the partnerships and socio-economic research all along (social media, website..) 
    • Support collaboration across the team to ensure alignment on research objectives and findings
  • Support Operations & Improve Digital Solutions Development and Maintenance o Monitoring research projects’ deliverables
    • Operation relation with academic institutions
    • Transversal reporting in the Team’s customer relation management (CRM) tools
    • Collaborate on (CRM) to improve efficiency and user engagement and manage the CRM user experience optimization project
    • Conduct monthly reviews of updated data in CRM with the team to ensure accuracy and relevance.
    • Consolidate relevant KPIs to assist with quarterly performance review.
    • Train, guide and influence the team to adopt a more digital-oriented approach to performance tracking

Preferred experience

Let’s talk about you

  • Master or gap students with an academic background in the field of economics, political science, sociology, sustainability sciences, communications, business administration, marketing or any other related field
  • Strong analytical and research skills; knowledge of research methods and standards
  • Ability to synthesize written output clearly and structure plans and output 
  • Knowledge in CRM is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, in English, work ability in French is a plus but not required
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a changing environment, while still meeting deadlines 
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in cross-disciplinary research subjects
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment as a team player
  • Familiarity with philanthropy/insurance sector is a plus
