Your work environment:

The headquarters of the AXA Group (GIE AXA) brings together our corporate activities. It provides guidance and support to subsidiaries around the world, to ensure the coordination and monitoring of the Group's global strategy, the application of its standards, the consistency of commercial approaches and the sharing of best practices. You will join AXA's Property & Casualty Group Risk Management (GRM P&C) department, tackling the technical and actuarial challenges of a leading international insurance company and be part of the Natural Catastrophe and Reinsurance team. You will lead the development and lifecycle of the natural catastrophe modeling platforms and the operationalization of natural catastrophe models internally developed.

You will also contribute to the research and innovation activities on natural and climate risks within the team. Your role will be pivotal in shaping risk management strategy and meeting various stakeholders' needs.

The team's natural catastrophe modeling and development activities are vital for AXA's strategy, providing actionable insights for informed decision-making and effective natural catastrophe management. The team relies on two key platforms: a high-performance computing production platform and an R&D development environment. The leader of the natural catastrophe platform collaborates closely with model developers and other platform leaders.

Your mission:

  • Lead the development of natural catastrophe modeling platforms, collaborating with the IT department to enhance capabilities
  • Operationalise internally developed models, ensuring robustness and integration into production
  • Enhance current application solutions and introduce new ideas
  • Communicate about the application and its evolution
  • Contribute to research and innovation on natural and climate risks, implementing projects and developing risk modeling frameworks
  • Provide recurrent trainings to AXA’s entities and various stakeholders at the Group level
  • Have the opportunity to contribute to P&C risk management and various modeling activities

Preferred experience

  • Engineering or master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, data science, or physics
  • A PhD in a relevant scientific discipline would be considered as a plus
  • 5 years of experience in a relevant field
  • Fluent in French and Business English (spoken and written)
  • Autonomous with a strong sense of team spirit
  • Strong programming and data analysis skills (Python and R)
  • Proficiency in manipulating databases using SQL
  • Ability to write clean and robust code
  • Experience with risk management, natural catastrophe modeling, and/or finance topics is a plus
  • Ability to communicate complex topics to various stakeholders
