Checkout team has one mission : Create a seamless purchase experience (convenient, accessible, reliable) for any device or service, starting from the moment users add to cart until they confirm their order on Back Market.

As Checkout Enginnering manager, you will be responsible for working alongside our business stakeholders and technical partners on 4 different pillars:

- The Checkout experience is so transparent, seamless and convenient that any user entering our funnel becomes convinced that they’re making the right choice buying refurbished tech and related services, and as a result, proceeds with the purchase.

- In 2025, our users will go through a seamless checkout, giving them confidence that Back Market is more than just legit, it is the right place to buy devices.

- The checkout funnel will be transparent on all regards, highlighting prices of our accessible devices and services that will bring them peace of mind after their purchase, so that users have all the right elements to make a purchase decision.

- By enabling users to checkout fast and safely, we will offer them all the convenience they need so that there is no more factual reason to buy new.

What you'll be doing :

  • Leading a collaborative team (9 persons) in delivering great software that our customers and sellers will love!
  • Collaborating with the product group and other tribes to align the team with company objectives and initiatives across engineering and the wider business
  • Ensuring the development of people and teams through ongoing coaching and mentoring
  • Creating a team environment where team members feel like they belong and are supported to do their best work
  • Establishing open communication and a culture of feedback between team members
  • Working in an agile "build it and run it" environment where engineering teams build, launch, monitor and support the sections they own
  • Working with the team to identify and make improvements in our processes, practices and product
  • Supporting teams in increasing delivery proficiency by creating a learning environment

  • Enthusiasm about reaching new levels of effectiveness (and quality!)
  • A background as an individual contributor and willingness to help when the team needs it
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excitement to learn about how our industry works and the impact we bring to our customers and the world
  • Experience working in agile development teams with some knowledge of our following tech stack : AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, RestFul API, Python, Django, VueJs, Nuxt, Datadog,
  • Experience in clean architecture, micro-services, DDD, API’s , monitoring tools
  • Recruitment process:

  • Call with Marie, our Expert Tech TA (45 min)
  • Management Principles Interview with your manager and one fellow EM (60mn)
  • Technical interview with 2 members of the tech team (90mn)
  • Stakeholders interview with 2 of your main stakeholders (60mn)
  • Back Market values interview with 2 members of the Exec level (45mn)
  • Note: Hybrid policy -3 days / week at Paris or Barcelona office (Monday is mandatory)
