Our Mission

Where nature nurtures hope

Casa Sonja provides a sanctuary for children and women who have experienced domestic violence and abuse in Costa Rica.

Nestled within a healing natural environment, Casa Sonja offers psychological support and educational assistance to help children overcome past trauma and build a brighter future.

Our shelter model is not a traditional one. We choose to build a comprehensive model, an ecovillage, that includes providing safety, nutrition, health and psychological care, academic support, access to school, extra curriculum activities.

Founded by Sonja Bautista, who transitioned from a successful hospitality career to serving vulnerable children, the shelter is located on five acres of protected land with an edible forest, dormitory, and mother's houses.

We are always seeking compassionate individuals and dedicated volunteers to support our mission. Whether you have expertise in child welfare, education, or community support, or are simply inspired to make a difference, your dedication is vital.

Together, we can provide a safe and nurturing environment for children who have faced adversity, helping them heal and thrive. In the lush landscape of Costa Rica, Casa Sonja stands as a beacon of hope for children affected by domestic violence and abuse.

Presentation

Capital on a Mission operates on a fundamental belief: Capital, when strategically deployed, can be a powerful catalyst for positive change.

As a family office established by Canel Frichet and Sebastian Lombardo, we are committed to channeling resources toward building an innovative, sustainable, and equitable future. Our core strategy revolves around the conviction that meaningful transformation arises from the synergy of innovation and collaboration.

We launch and support initiatives designed to address the world's most urgent challenges, from advancing sustainable agriculture to fostering social justice or solving back pain with (or without) science and technologies.

Beyond providing funding, we forge strong partnerships, offering strategic guidance, mentorship, and access to a network of like-minded individuals who share our vision.
