Carenity is a digital CRO specialized into Patient Centered Outcomes research (PCOR). We partner with senior stakeholders in HEOR, Medical Affairs, RWE, and Market Access departments within the top 20 pharmaceutical companies to support their Patient Centered Evidence Generation. Our digital CRO services enable direct-to-patient, online studies using self-reported questionnaires, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered data collection.

Role Overview

The Global Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, targeting, and securing new business through a consultative, scientific, and commercial approach. This role requires a deep understanding of HEOR, observational and RWE methodologies, as well as the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into compelling business proposals. The ideal candidate will have a strong network in the pharmaceutical industry and the ability to manage the entire sales cycle—from initial pitch to proposal development and contract execution.

This position requires close collaboration with our Project Management Team (Data Science Team) to ensure that proposals and study designs align with scientific and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Account Management

·       Identify and develop new business opportunities within key pharmaceutical accounts.

·       Accountable for achieving sales targets, including proposal win rates, client retention, and market expansion.

·       Build strong, long-term relationships with decision-makers in HEOR, RWE, Medical Affairs, and Market Access.

·       Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their data generation needs and challenges.

·       Execute on an account sales strategy to gain market share and increase customer satisfaction.

·       Maintain a strong understanding of evolving industry trends in HEOR, RWE, and Market Access to proactively engage clients.

Scientific & Commercial Proposal Development

·       Lead the end-to-end RFP process—from proposal strategy and study methodology development to budgeting, timelines, and resource allocation.

·       Work closely with the Data Science Team to ensure methodologically sound and commercially viable study proposals.

·       Align proposals with observational research best practices, including PCOR, PASS studies, and digital data collection methodologies.

·       Ensure client needs are fully addressed through tailored research solutions.

Collaboration & Strategic Thinking

·       Partner with internal Carenity stakeholders, including the Project Management Team (Data Science Team) and senior management, to identify growth opportunities, ensure successful study execution and adherence to industry standards.

·       Adapt successful business development strategies to meet market demands and financial targets.

·       Closely collaborate with Marketing teams to drive relevant activities to improve inbound and outbound strategies

·       Communicate effectively across multifunctional teams, both internally and externally.


Preferred experience

SKILLS

  • Technical & Scientific Expertise

    ·       Strong expertise in HEOR and observational study methodologies (PCOR, PASS, etc.).

    ·       Understanding of biostatistics, epidemiology, and patient-reported outcomes research.

    ·       Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and data collection frameworks for observational research.

    ·       Experience with digital or decentralized clinical research approaches, including direct-to-patient data collection methodologies (eCOA; Mobile Health...)

  • Commercial & Business Development Skills

    ·       Proven experience in business development or account management within a CRO, life sciences consultancy, or pharmaceutical company.

    ·       Ability to pitch complex research solutions to senior stakeholders in pharma.

    ·       Experience managing the full sales cycle, from lead generation to contract execution.

  • Soft Skills & Industry Knowledge

    ·       Excellent consultative sales and strategic thinking abilities.

    ·       Ability to influence senior decision-makers and build high-trust relationships.

    ·       Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and ability to work under tight deadlines.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    🎓 Master’s degree required (MSc, PhD, MD, or PharmD preferred) in HEOR, Business, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a related field.

    📈 5+ years of experience in business development, HEOR, RWE, or observational research in a CRO, pharma, or consulting setting.
     🔗 Strong network within the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
     🗣 Fluent English required (French is a plus).
