The Customer Growth Domain is expanding and undergoing an ambitious Transformation. We are pivoting from local smaller teams to a global organization. This will enable us to deliver the technological (APIsation of the IS, Scaling an Event Driven Architecture, Micro-Services, Headless,...) and organizational (Agility at scale, High performing Teams and pivot from feature to product teams) transformation and help us achieve our objectives.

Customer Growth provides best-in-class seamless customer identification and connection to the Decathlon ecosystem. We are responsible for developing customer 360 knowledge and lead the business through personalized lifecycle activation & management.

To help us transform and build engineering excellence we are for a Senior Engineering Manager to support the teams in designing interfaces, reusable components, help our engineers grow/thrive, at scale, securely, robustly, on budget, data driven, at required pace and compliant to our high standards.

We operate in 45+ countries and are responsible for 200M+ individual accounts, 30K created each day, 250K login connections, 2.5B Email, 45M push messages and over 80M online visits.

 

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will be responsible for implementing actions to enhance excellence in development skills, and for providing human resources support for people with these skills. Our aim is to enable features to be created on a larger scale, faster and with a higher quality than any other company in the sector. You will be leading multiple squads and ensure they are empowered to deliver on objectives.

  • Develop a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company's values.
  • Disseminate and challenge technical strategies within features.
  • Lead technical work streams within features, based on technical strategies.
  • Support individual employees through our managerial rituals (individual interview, mid-year review, annual interview, etc.).
  • Support the teams with their delivery capability (operating cadence)
  • Recruit the technical team according to the needs expressed by the features and in agreement with technical management and product managers.  
  • Support individual employees in the evolution of the company's ecosystem (e.g. training, mentoring).
  • Be responsible for and master feature architectures.
  • Guarantee the implementation of technical orientations
  • Ensure that technical teams comply with Decathlon development standards (quality, security)
  • Ensure technical consistency in features (e.g. choice of tools or languages).
  • Ensure technical features are aligned to business value and work in tandem with Data, Product and business.
  • Actively participate in the community of Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers in order to build a coherent technical strategy within mobile at Decathlon.
  • Use the “Accelerate” principle to ensure responsibility and improve the performance of the delivery.
  • Ensure the teams are compliant with our internal and external standards on quality and security.

What You Need to be Successful

  • 5/7 years' experience as a developer
  • Good command of software development best practices (microservices architecture, design patterns, testable code, BDD or TDD).
  • Experience in managing, coaching and mentoring developers to deliver high-quality software on time.
  • You have significant management experience in an agile/devops development environment.
  • You're particularly sensitive to the impact of sports for the values it has enabled you to acquire in your leadership style and the way you lead your teams!
