Job description

Epic is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Programs team working on the selection, monitoring and research of nonprofits around the world. While the position will focus primarily on environmental topics, it will also include involvement in our wider work within our Children & Youth portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a background in the nonprofit sector, program management, grantmaking and a deep passion for environmentalism, climate action and strategic philanthropy.

The Environment Programs Manager will work under the leadership of the Associate Programs Director. This position will work with a deeply engaged team in an international environment. Given the versatile nature of the responsibilities and the small team size, candidates will need to show demonstrable flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to take ownership and work independently.

Epic offers an enriching and agreeable work environment with opportunities for professional growth and network development. This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative organization that places social impact at the heart of its mission.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Epic’s strategy to manage a global portfolio of nonprofits centered around two areas : Children & Youth and Environment & future generations.

  • Participate in the selection of robust organizations for the portfolio through a comprehensive due diligence on impact, operations and governance. This includes landscaping and search of potential organizations, collaborating with referral partners, reviewing models, processes, and documents, evaluating applications and supporting documents, conducting interviews with candidate organizations, and performing selection visits.

  • Manage ongoing monitoring and analysis of overall performance, growth and evolution of portfolio organizations. This involves becoming a point of contact for a portion of the portfolio associations, conducting quarterly calls, reviewing and analyzing monitoring data, writing annual monitoring reports, organizing annual monitoring visits, and providing ad-hoc technical support to organizations as relevant and desired.

  • Support the grantmaking process and contribute to strategic projects within the Programs such as impact evaluation and capacity building.

  • Contribute to Epic’s research program and knowledge management (reports, case studies, trend analysis, and developments in the philanthropy field) and help develop Epic’s leadership and reputation as a key player in the philanthropic sector.

  • Work with the Programs team to strengthen systems and processes for evaluating the impact of Epic’s programs worldwide.

  • Facilitate and liaise with other foundation teams, notably the Communications and Marketing team to keep portfolio organization data and information up to date on the website, application, and relevant documents; and the Development team to support its donor relations.

  • Any other task that may be requested in the scope of these general responsibilities.
