The General Counsel has a strong regulatory expertise and is responsible for supervising/coordinating legal and corporate matters in Europ Assistance SA and its branches and affiliates.
The first area of expertise and impact is on insurance matters and contracts.
Main responsibilities:
1. He / she ensures that all key insurance related legal matters are properly taken care of by:
· Coordinating legal advice on insurance matters, general contracts, distribution agreements, sales and claims handling practices in all countries in which EASA operates
· Supervising all legal matters related to international travel & contracts
· Advising on regulatory aspects of distribution activities (IDD), policies issuance (including governance, passporting, licenses and branches, regulatory obligations and reporting)
He/she is a member of the Underwriting Committee
2. He / she builds and strengthens the legal & corporate affairs framework in Europ Assistance SA and its branches:
· Supervising a legal team spread in several countries
· Ensuring adequate training and control of local teams towards avoiding any major breach of regulations
· Collaborating with control functions at group level, fostering a system of controls and accountability with the Group also in line with local regulatory requirements
· Collaborating with the group general counsel when interacting with the local regulators such as ACPR and all other local regulators overseeing activities of branches
· Leading corporate matters pertaining to EASA and its branches in line with the Group framework and in coordination with the Group Corporate affairs functions
3. He / she supports the group general counsel & group corporate affairs function in the reporting of the adoption and implementation of the Internal Regulation System.
4. He / she leads the EASA local team members, ensuring effective coordination in the company:
· Leading, mentoring and coaching Europ Assistance SA team as well the local teams reporting to him / her in the countries under EASA perimeter
· Setting goals, assessing performance and sharing regular feedback towards ensuring development at a fast pace
· Ensuring smooth coordination between team members on various topics
· Ensuring adequate staffing / skill level of his function at global and local level
· Leading changes, ensure anticipation of coming challenges and risks
· Guaranteeing alignment on all high level interdependent decisions and targets with a constant and strict cooperation mainly with the group support functions and territories
He/she works in coordination with the Group GC of EAH.
5. Governance responsibilities & Stakeholder management:
· As a member of the EASA Central Functions Committee & Steering Committee, the head of legal embodies the strategy and is part of a very dynamic leadership team, able to challenge other members and bring innovative ideas to drive the transformation of the company
· Manages relationship with EA Group on all legal related matters
· A degree holder in law
· At least 10 years of experience gained in law firms working in the regulatory and/or corporate department or in in house team of insurance / finance industry, preferably in a multinational environment
· Strong experience in managing insurance regulators and deep knowledge of industry regulations with particular focus on French ones (corporate but also insurance related)

· Excellent both written and spoken English and possibly French
· Strong management skills to effectively lead a legal team spread across countries
