The position

Job description

The Global Category Buyer oversees a procurement portfolio on a global scale.

Key responsibilities:

  • Liaise with an internal network of local professionals to retrieve data, influence/manage and control application of strategic guidelines locally.
  • Reviews, manages and optimizes supplier portfolio on assigned categories.
  • Analysing data or insights to determine industry trends regarding assigned categories.
  • Creating and developing a strategic long-term plan for the development of the category.
  • Developing an exit strategy for suppliers no longer relevant in our portfolio.
  • Optimize the balance between global suppliers and local suppliers to serve our needs.
  • Analyze the overall chain of value from customers interests to suppliers and offer new optimization opportunities.
  • Building and driving relationships with key vendors to improve pricing and quality of services.
  • Becoming a leader in category ranging, pricing.
  • Ensure contractual management within the assigned categories and share greenlist and blacklist suppliers to tendering teams.
  • Establish a general strategy on category management based on analysis and stakeholders reviews.
  • Placing appropriate orders to ensure contractual follow-up (blanket PO, or on-demand PO).
  • Leading category management projects agreed in strategy reviews (incl. but not limited to: supplier introduction, technology introduction, digitalization, Supply-chain optimizations…)
  • Follow-up and lead on cost savings initiatives identified.
  • Developing strong working relationships with supply-chain, operations, technical, finance teams.
  • Be part of the category management team and ensure back-ups when needed
  • Analysis and synthesis of category related data to build category strategy.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Customer Service teams and Demand planning department.
  • Prepare and lead QBR (Quarterly Business Reviews) with strategical suppliers.
  • Prepare and lead category strategy reviews with key stakeholders for assigned categories.
  • Build a global network to influence, manage and control spend over assigned category.
  • Maintain the right number of suppliers in our supplier base and grow our supply base based on strategical approach.
  • Elaborate and follow-up cost savings initiatives. Track and report progress on assigned categories.

 

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor in data handling related domains. (supply-chain, purchasing, engineering…)
  • Master level in the same domains is a plus.
  • MCIPS or similar procurement qualifications considered as a plus.
