If you are still interested in reading, an open role with our start-up may be for you! We are looking for an independent, hands-on Junior chemist.

Missions

  • Coached by senior engineers/chemists, you will be involved in setting-up, commissioning and ramping up the Antwerp lab;

  • As an essential member of the scale-up team, you will be trained to operate and maintain the kilo-scale equipment, more specifically the high-pressure reactors and the separation units;

  • You will perform chemical analysis and ensure data are properly logged. Your input will be essential in the improvement of the process.

  • You will contribute to laboratory management: inventory of raw materials and products, maintenance of shared equipment and tools

  • You will adhere to safety procedures and demonstrate safe work practices

  • You will be proactive in assuming responsibilities that enable seamless functioning of the Kilo Lab

  • Demonstrate hands-on experience, process/equipment problem solving, and mechanical aptitude skills and be able to work effectively with multiple assignments.

  • Contribute to process development projects lead by senior engineers/chemists.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • English (Dutch or French is a plus)

  • Knowledge of Swagelock would be an asset.

  • Strong compliance to safety


Preferred experience

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or a master’s degree in science (process engineering, chemistry, physical chemistry, electro-chemistry), or a comparable level gained through experience.

  • At least one significant experience in industry (internships included)

  • Theoretical knowledge of thermodynamics and chemical kinetics

  • Experienced in working in a chemical laboratory is a strong asset.

  • Ability to operate standard laboratory/process equipment and apparatus.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written forms in inter-disciplinary and multicultural environments.

  • Concise and accurate reporting of technical data and information (oral and writing)

  • Affinity for mechanical work and prototyping

  • A first experience in a demo plant, a pilot facility or a kilo lab is a strong asset

  • A first experience in which you used pressurized gas is a strong asset

  • A first experience in an R&D or quality environment is a strong asset
