The position

Job description

As a Material Artist with us, you will work closely with the Art and Design teams to ensure the highest quality materials that define the visual look and feel of our games. Your work will focus on creating realistic, visually stunning, and technically efficient materials, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into our games.

Responsibilities

  • Design visually stunning, technically efficient materials that align with the game vision.
  • Create high-quality game materials, balancing creativity with technical specifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams, solving artistic and technical challenges.
  • Provide clear documentation for all material assets to ensure seamless integration into the development pipeline.
  • Maintain a customer-oriented mindset, enhancing player satisfaction with tailored material designs.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills, meeting project deadlines efficiently.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, offering transparent progress reports and contributing to discussions.

Preferred experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Material / Texture Art or related roles in the games industry.
  • Present a robust portfolio showcasing a wide variety of materials and textures, demonstrating creative adaptability across diverse game styles and aesthetics.
  • Exceptional skills in creating detailed, high-quality materials.
  • Strong understanding of material creation principles for cohesive, high-quality game assets.
  • Proficient in conceptualizing and executing material designs.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Substance Designer, with the ability to create complex, high-quality materials and textures.
  • Experience with industry-standard software such as Adobe Suite, Maya, Substance Painter, and ZBrush.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine; training available for candidates with the right skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with published titles is a bonus, showing tangible impact on projects.
