In this role you will:

  • Provide expert compliance advice, guidance, support and challenge to help the HBCE Global Markets business manage compliance risks.
  • Give objective and independent advice to the business’ stakeholders and provide credible proactive observations and recommendations on specific Global Markets transactions, new products, etc. based on understanding of the business needs, issues and priorities. This includes all topics supervised by Compliance including Conduct risks, conflicts of interests, Market Abuse, outsourcing, etc.
  • Offer independent, relevant professional and specialist guidance and insight to the business’ stakeholders in relation to current, emerging and horizon risks as well as risk and control management activity, including RCAs, control monitoring, and associated risk management activity.
  • Act as a key point of contact in the HBCE Compliance Global Markets team for Regulatory Affairs’ matters: supporting regulatory engagements and developments of the MSS business, ensuring the ongoing maintenance of the MSS Regulatory Mapping activities.
  • Deliver implementable policies, supporting the business with implementation, actively monitoring compliance with the policies and robustly challenging ad escalating non-compliance as required.
  • Deliver regular training and awareness sessions to staff on compliance matters within France and Continental Europe countries.
  • Create and continue developing a compliance and Conduct culture where Compliance function is truly valued and are counted on to provide considered, constructive challenges to business leaders on their own ground.
  • Support the governance and reporting work on the Global Markets Compliance items (filling out compliance databases, drafting papers for governance fora).


Conditions

You should apply if you have:
  • Significant (a minimum of 5-7 years) of prior experience in Compliance or Legal role.
  • A high level of knowledge of French and European legal and regulatory requirements particularly with respect to Markets business.
  • A proven track record and experience in overseeing Compliance risk as risk steward.
  • Significant level of autonomy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills (French and English).
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential as the jobholder will have to work in coordination with executives at all levels including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy.
  • Experience with working within a matrixed environment preferred.
