The ECB Regulatory Engagement team is one ‘capability team’ within the Compliance function that supports all functions and businesses in managing regulatory engagements with the ECB in its supervisory function. The role of the Regulatory Engagement team is to aim to ensure that there are “no surprises” in relation to our dealings with the ECB, and in particular as they relate to strategic, prudential and compliance risks. What you will do:

The HBCE, ECB Regulatory Engagements Manager will be part of a small team dedicated to supporting the high levels of regulatory engagement with regards to HSBC Continental Europe (HBCE) at a legal entity and for all lines of businesses. The role will primarily consist in being a point of contact with the ECB.

In this role you will:

  • Engage on regulatory engagement matters, working with relevant risk, finance and business colleagues to deliver the relevant requests.
  • Advocate the objective of there being a “no surprises” approach in the HSBC’s regulatory engagement; including ensuring that ECB’s agendas and requests are understood, communicated to relevant stakeholders and delivered.
  • Support relevant stakeholders in material engagement with the ECB; including attendance at meetings, and maintaining accurate records of ECB engagements.
  • Work with counterparts across Europe to ensure the team maintain oversight of relevant engagements in HBCE remit.
  • Support on-site visits and regulatory reviews mandated by the ECB.
  • Produce high quality reporting and guidance on regulatory engagements and trends as required for internal governance and senior stakeholders.


Conditions

You should apply if you have:
  • Experience in one or more Compliance, Risk or Finance roles, ideally operating within a European multi-business level. Knowledge of risk management topics (including internal models) and finance (in particular capital and liquidity) would be an advantage.
  • Experience in dealing with EU regulators (ideally ACPR or ECB)
  • Broad knowledge of EU Prudential regulations
  • Knowledge of HSBC and HBCE structure
  • Excellent communicator with strong inter-personal and writing skills, both in English and in French.
  • Ability to assimilate and summarise complex topics.
  • Willingness to be flexible on composition of assignments covering both routine and ad-hoc tasks.
  • Ability to adapt communication style for various audiences.
