What you will do:

Impact on the Business
• Consider and review policy/procedural change together with the proper assessment of potential business impact for HBCE and associated countries. This includes reading and understanding any Regulatory policy requirements to full implementation.
• Production of timely and accurate reports
• Establish and maintain the HBCE Wholesale Lending Guidelines where appropriate.
• Establish and maintain the HBCE Wholesale BIM.
• Control of the Country Lending Guidelines/Addenda by ensuring that they are robustly reviewed and then progressed to sign-off where appropriate.
• Coordination of the HBCE LCEP. Progressing these to sign-off and dealing with Country queries in this area.
• Maintaining an overview on the internal LE reporting side (we do not produce it) but we have a high-level role in flagging up issues etc to the CRO.
• Keeping control of the dispensation process for the HBCE BIM/HBCE Lending Guidelines.
• Reviewing Credit FIM dispensations for Country Offices before agreement by Group Risk
• Assisting with other sundry dispensation requests.
• Efficient progress in agreeing change and ensuring this is communicated properly.

Customers / Stakeholders
• Implementation of approval authority work together with providing a high level consultancy service to other areas in the HBCE Region
• Controlling the approval authority process including for all of the Country Risk Offices and the Wholesale Credit area.
• Interaction with Country Offices within HBCE to help them resolve issues and establish appropriate policies/procedures.
• Collaborate with Global Risk and other HO Departments to provide firm guidance in policy matters to HBCE.

Leadership & Teamwork
• Develop strong working relationships within the Global Risk function (Groups, Regions, Countries) within staffing constraints.
• Guide Country Offices/Risk areas as appropriate and operate in ways that transcend regional and business boundaries.
• Share best practice with the European Risk team and use knowledge to assist them with a wide range of issues
• Reviewing FIM updates and other credit initiatives and sharing this with the Country Offices by means of a regular Credit Update.
• Communication of appropriate policies to Risk officials especially those in the HBCE offices

Operational Effectiveness & Control
• Implementation of policy.
• Keeping control of the high-level approval authorities and reacting quickly to senior executive requests.
• Keeping control of the various manuals and ensuring that changes are properly researched, agreed with the appropriate area and a record kept.
• Keeping the BIMs up to date so that interested areas have the relevant information to undertake their business in a proper manner.

Conditions

  • Varied credit background essential to undertake the dimensions of the role
  • Banking qualification highly desirable
  • Interpersonal skills including the capacity to agree policies with several areas of business
  • Good project planning and execution skills
  • A high standard of written and verbal communication is required
  • Ability to work and progress issues/matters without close supervision
  • The ability to interpret and understand all types of policy quickly
  • Good problem-solving skills
