What will you do:
The role supports various activities to achieve the goals and objectives of the Head of Capital Management, following the strategy set by the Head of ALCM. This position is an SME role involved in almost all aspects of Capital Management: risk identification, Capital planning and stress testing, Capital Risk Appetite framework and Economic capital (demand and supply). High level JD below:
- Ensure HBCE Capital Management framework is in compliance with ECB requirements and the Group policies and procedures (where applicable).
- Drive risk management of HBCE’s Capital Base and capital ratios on a proactive and forward looking basis.
- Embed the economic capital perspective into business strategy.
- Participate to the ICAAP developments on a collaborative, efficient and effective manner.
- Review HBCE entities’ ICAAP reports (HBMT, PBLU, Middle East Leasing) and provide subject matter expertise to entities to ensure risks to capital are adequately captured.
- Prepare HBCE capital projections for PRA and EBA stress tests and provide a clear understanding of the risks to our capital ratios.
- Review HBCE entities’ stress testing results, provide subject matter expertise to entities and promote consistency in stress testing processes.
- Collaborate with the broader Capital team on other Capital related processes such as Capital plan or Projects.
In addition to liaising with internal local stakeholders with presentations to HBCE’s governance fora (ALCO, Risk Committee and Board), coordination/collaboration with onshore stakeholders and senior management, this position will also face the ECB and other European regulators on capital management related topics and ICAAP in particular. This SME role in HBCE is not and cannot be serviced by the Treasury global capital offshore team since it requires specific EU regulations knowledge and interactions with EU regulators on behalf of HBCE.

- Good knowledge of the HSBC Group and its operating policies and processes.
- Skilled in handling and controlling a large amount of data.
- Proactively looks for methods to simplify processes.
- Advanced MS Office proficiency, particularly on Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to convey complex ideas.
- People and stakeholder management experience.
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing responsibilities within required timeframes and standards.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Fluent in French and English.
