Among other tools, Jus Mundi provides a multilingual search engine powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning that revolutionizes the way lawyers conduct their research in international law and arbitration. Jus Mundi’s search engine is based on a thorough and up-to-date database currently composed of treaties and case documents in inter-State proceedings, IUSCT and Mixed Claims Commissions proceedings, investment arbitration, commercial arbitration and municipal judgments on enforcement and annulment of awards. Jus Mundi also provides other legal research tools: CiteMap, a user-friendly catalogue of interconnections between legal references; arbitrator and counsel analytics; a conflict checker and Wiki Notes on investment arbitration.
Jus Mundi’s search engine relies heavily on the input of documents and the extraction of data. As an intern, you will work within the legal content team in order to analyze the legal data available primarily in the domain of international commercial arbitration, investor-State arbitration and sports arbitration. The team is composed of specialized arbitration lawyers and interns. As part of the team, you will participate in expanding Jus Mundi’s database.
This internship is for 6 months starting in January 2025
Your main tasks
Analyzing international documents (case documents and treaties) and extracting metadata (legal concepts)
Integrating case documents into the database
Conducting various types of research for the legal team

Administrative mandatory requirement
You must be able to deliver an internship agreement (convention de stage) to be issued by your university for the whole duration of your internship. You must be based in the Paris area.

Education and experience
You are currently a law student interested in better understanding international law and arbitration through the lens of informatic and cognitive technologies.
Knowledge in commercial arbitration is required. Knowledge in investor-State arbitration is an asset.

Languages
Fluency in English and Portuguese is a requirement. Ability to read legal documents in other languages including French, Spanish, Arabic, or Chinese is an asset.
