📌 The Role : Senior Legal Counsel

Jus Mundi is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Global Legal Data team. In this role, you will report directly to the VP of Global Legal Data and be THE key player in driving Jus Mundi’s governance, legal strategy, and mission. You will be based in Paris but will also have the opportunity to travel to our offices in New York, London, and Singapore.

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will have a dual focus: managing all legal aspects of the company (corporate, commercial, IP/IT, data protection, etc.) and spearheading our mission and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. You will be instrumental in shaping the legal direction of Jus Mundi, both from an internal governance perspective and in our interactions with the external legal community. This includes overseeing our policies on the collection, processing, and anonymization of global legal data.

Your role will also involve being a key representative of Jus Mundi in the global legal community, especially among General Counsel of leading multinational companies who are our clients or prospects.

📌 What You’ll Be Doing

As the company’ Senior Legal Counsel, you will:

  • Be involved in the definition and execution of the company’s governance.

  • Lead any legal topic relating to contracts, corporate, IP/IT, data protection and other relevant legal matters.

  • Plan and implement our IP (trademark, copyright, and sui generis database rights) and data protection strategy.

  • Draft and update contract templates (General & specific T&C, IT services agreements, partnerships, NDA, …) and improve our contracting processes and policies.

  • Collaborate with the team to evolve the legal function by identifying opportunities to centralize knowledge and create processes with a technology-first, enablement-first approach.

  • Monitor and provide guidance on the latest regulatory & legal developments to ensure the company’s compliance with the issues that may impact us, including finance, governance, data protection, AI governance etc.

  • Manage and follow up relationships with external counsel.

  • Be responsible for building the legal team as the company grows.

  • Lead Jus Mundi’s mission and CSR activities, promoting our values and social responsibility initiatives across the company and the broader legal community.

  • Publicly represents and speak on behalf of the company as its General Counsel.

  • Establish close relationships with other leading General Counsel worldwide.

Preferred experience

📌 Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, in an international environment. Previous experience in the early days of a fast-growing tech company is a big plus.

  • Deep knowledge of and experience with corporate and commercial law, IP/IT law and data protection & CSR in French and US law.

📌 Languages

  • Fluent in English and French (both written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is a plus.

📌 Education

  • Master or higher degree in law.

  • Bar qualification is a plus.
