What’s the job? About the role We are going through an exciting period of change and are seeking a highly motivated Associate SRE Engineer to join our Site Reliability Engineering sub-chapter. You will work as part of our exciting greenfield tech hub covering all facets of technology within Kingfisher.
You will be responsible for the reliability and observability for our products whilst working closely with senior members of the team.
Responsibilities - Improving the observability of Kingfisher’s products with a customer focused lens to increase the confidence in the ability to pinpoint and resolve issues.
- Work with Senior SREs to provide help in increasing observability and reliability
- Provide SRE representation in blameless post-mortems following P1/P2 incidents.
- Write clear and descriptive technical documentation with the end-user in mind.
- Willing to participate in an on-call rota providing SRE support during Major Incidents
- Work with Product squads to establish SLI’s / SLO’s and participate in monthly reviews.
- Collaborate with the wider technology teams in a DevOps fashion to help to bridge the gap with product squads (Security, APM, Networks, etc.)
What you’ll bring Skills and Experience - A technical background to be able to provide technical insight.
- Effective communication skills to be able to productively participate in discussion, understand customer’s requirements and clearly articulate yourself when presenting solutions.
- Understanding of SRE principles
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- A willingness to learn and continuously improve by working with new tools and technologies.
- Basic knowledge of CI/CD Platforms - GitLab (preferred), GitHub Actions, Jenkins etc.
- Basic knowledge of any one major cloud - AWS, GCP, Azure
- DevOps mindset
- Basic familiarity with modern tooling - e.g. Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
- Scripting Languages - e.g. Bash, Python etc.
- Enterprise monitoring / APM tools - e.g. Datadog or Dynatrace (preferred), Grafana, etc.
- Understanding of SDLC and motivated to work in highly distributed environment
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
