Here is a description of the role we are opening:
Your mission:
TEAM MANAGEMENT
Supervise the materials team, ensuring priorities are met.
Organize and assign tasks based on skillsets, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Provide scientific and technical support, mentor staff, and guide their professional development.
Anticipate risks, including EHS, in test and development phases.
MATERIALS EXPERTISE
Serve as the internal expert on materials (substrates, coverlays, adhesives, inks, etc.).
Develop testing strategies, write/review/approve protocols & reports, and provide methodological recommendations.
Present findings internally and at external events.
Conduct research, maintain academic/industry relationships, and support supplier evaluations.
Share insights and ensure intellectual property is recorded and accessible.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Manage projects for the realm of responsibility – inc. budget, planning, scope.
Maintain and report on project metrics.
NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Support product design, risk assessment, and material characterization for R&D and APE.
Define and approve material specifications based on research outcomes.
Your profile:
Material Sciences Engineer or PhD preferred, with 5-10 years’ experience
Expertise in materials (polymers, metals, ceramics) and processes (extrusion, 3D printing).
Proficient in material characterization methods (DSC, ATG, MEB, etc.) and printing techniques.
Skilled in DOE, AMDEC, risk management, and material/process qualification.
Knowledge of ISO13485, ISO14971, ISO10993; strong report writing skills.
Ability to drive execution, make decisions, and foster cooperation and ethics in healthcare.
Fluent in English for international cooperation, scientific communication and presentations.
