PRIMARY SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer I is responsible for providing technical support to their assigned UAP (Autonomous Production Unit), Manufacturing, Support Departments, and to Outside Customers. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Utilizes LEAP (LISI Excellence Achievement Program) tools and other continuous improvement tools and methods to provide timely technical and other support within their assigned UAP to ensure timely resolution to all UAP matters.
• Participates in PSM2 meetings and collaborates with other team members within their assigned UAP to ensure timely response and resolution to the needs of the Plant.
• Assists in the research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
• Coordinates and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
• Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
• Coordinates the analysis and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
• Coordinates product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
• Assist with processing new parts and routines routed through the shop.
• Identify parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
• Able to perform tool design (fixtures) with use of computer assisted design applications and programs.
• Able to perform the re-engineering process of existing parts as needed for improved manufacturability.
• Able to identify, perform and troubleshoot tools in manufacturing for improved quality and tool life.
• Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Works under general supervision with a certain degree of creativity and latitude as required.

Education and/or Experience
• B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent combination of education and /or experience
• A minimum of 1 to 3 engineering experience of manufacturing environment procedures
• Working knowledge of relevant engineering applications
• Proficient in Computer assisted design (CAD)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Access, Computer assisted design (CAD/CAM) proficiency, SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience required.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
