Job description

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Metroscope helps industry players operate their assets in a sober way, by improving clean energy generation and reducing inefficiencies. We leverage AI to fight waste, pollution, and uncertainty, turning industry into a force for progress, innovation, and sustainability. Our AI is already installed on more than 60 industrial assets and has detected over 2TWh of energy losses last year in Europe and North America.

We believe in an efficient, local and conscious industry, guided by our core values of simplicity, unity, and expertise.

Metroscope is a member of the EDF Group.

MISSIONS

As Metroscope’s new Modeling and Simulation Engineer, you will be joining a dynamic team of three people dedicated to ensuring power plant reliability and zero energy loss through AI. Being part of a small team means that you will have the opportunity to engage in high-stakes projects, where your input will be valued and your initiative encouraged.

Your main missions will be:

  • Developing and running simulations: Create and execute simulations for power plant systems, using tools such as Modelica and custom Python libraries developed and maintained by the team.

  • Data screening

  • Analyzing engineering drawings

  • Building comprehensive models of processes and faults

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement diagnostic solutions.

  • Research and Development Support: Support projects aimed at enhancing the company’s technology.

  • Reporting and presentation: Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Customer Success: Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues and act as a customer success manager for software subscribers.

In small teams, flexibility is key. Therefore, this list is non-exhaustive and you may find yourself asked to contribute to various projects, with plenty of room for autonomy and initiative.

🛣️ Please note that the role requires occasional travel to customer sites for on-site assessments and to gather additional plant data as needed.

You’d be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • A degree in engineering with a focus on engineering simulations preferred.

  • 0-3 years of experience in numerical or computer modeling and data handling.

  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.

  • Familiarity with engineering programming, including Python.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to convey technical results to customers and team members.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently when necessary.

BONUS SKILLS

  • Experience with modeling tools for system simulations, e.g., Modelica.

  • Knowledge of power plant systems or experience in the energy sector.

  • Strong presentation skills for delivering technical information to various stakeholders.

  • Interest in research and development with a creative approach to problem-solving.

  • Graduate degree or undergraduate research in relevant fields would be a plus.

Language skills (e.g., Spanish, French) would be a plus.
