Team :
You will become part of the Finance Product Development Domain (PDD) which is at the heart of the Murex software evolution. This domain is divided into teams responsible for various business processes, including accounting, hedge accounting, P&L and balance sheet control, and transfer pricing.
Your focus will be on the Transfer Pricing business solution. This involves designing, validating, and delivering solutions that help our clients assess trading desks profitability and optimize risk management across their different business units. The solution supports Treasury in cost of funds allocation, the Product Control department in producing the official P&L, Trading Desks (FX, FXO, etc.) and various front office related functions such as Sales, XVA.
In particular, the Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) framework should be fully integrated within a bank’s overall organizational model as it decomposes its financial external commitments according to the underlying risks involved (Liquidity, IR, CVA, etc.) and attributes the corresponding components into the respective desks (Treasury, Linear rate trading, MM, FX desks, etc.).
FTP has gained importance in modern banks, given the multiple roles it fulfills in terms of product pricing, liquidity management, performance measurement and balance sheet steering.
Missions :
After a training phase on the Murex software to master its functionality, as well as a training on financial instruments and functional tools used within the transfer pricing module, you will work alongside developers, functional consultants, product and clients’ experts from other teams with focus on the below tasks:
1- Innovation through FTP Matched Maturity Solution enrichment
Objective: Enhance the FTP Matched Maturity solution to accelerate clients’ Murex implementation projects.
Overview: Matched Maturity solution is a method used to measure assets or liabilities profitability by considering liquidity risk, interest rate risk, and option risk as funding components of matching maturities. It allows costs to be transferred from central treasury to the products and business lines that generate the activity and its associated risks.
Your Contribution:
Study: Review solutions implemented in past or current client projects.
Design: Develop a Proof of Concept (PoC) within the Murex framework.
Implement: Ensure the solution is available as ready to deploy.
2- Product end of life
Objective: Decommission a feature after following a dedicated process to ensure the impact is controlled and mitigated.
Overview: Decommissioning a module can be done following various reasons, such as legacy code that is difficult to maintain, features that are no longer needed or do not meet users’ needs, or the emergence of better competing features.
Your Contribution:
Identify the Value and Impacts:
Assess the value of decommissioning the feature.
Identify and analyze the potential impacts on clients and systems.
Define Alternatives:
Explore and define alternative solutions before making the final decision.
Ensure that viable alternatives are available to clients.
Elaborate a Decommissioning Plan:
Develop a detailed decommissioning plan.
Schedule and specify tasks for developers to follow.
Communicate the action plan with client facing teams.
3- In addition to this research work, the intern may also participate in the daily tasks of a functional consultant within PDD:
Daily support on Finance/Transfer Pricing topics: Analyzing and understanding functional issues or questions. Proposing appropriate recommendations and solutions.
Monitoring corrections and developing new features in coordination with client and development teams. Following up on development and validation cycles.
Profile :
Student with 5 years of higher education (in Engineering or Market finance), looking for a 6-month end-of-studies internship.
Generic knowledge of the financial markets (e.g. organization of an investment bank and the different business lines, some financial products).
Technical knowledge of database languages like SQL, or programming languages like Python.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
