The position

Job description

The Site and Lab Manager is an organized and proactive individual with a passion for optimizing laboratory operations. She/he is responsible for managing daily lab workflows, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, and supporting the R&D team in achieving operational excellence. He/she brings exceptional problem-solving skills and thrives in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

This role focuses on operational management of the lab and site facilities, emphasizing smooth day-to-day operations.

Main Responsibilities:

Lab Management:

  • Ensure the safety of the R&D team by implementing and maintaining good laboratory practices (GLP).

  • Oversee daily lab operations, including media and glassware preparation, waste management, and consumable tracking.

  • Manage technical inventory, including orders, deliveries, stock deployment.

  • Track and maintain common stocks of reagents, samples, kits, consumables, and other resources through our LIMS

  • Maintain optimal organization and cleanliness of the lab and technical areas to maximize efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance to track and plan R&D expenses.

Site Operations:

  • Ensure site infrastructure (air, water, electricity) functions smoothly, including coordination of routine maintenance.

  • Manage suppliers relationships and oversee maintenance and calibration schedules for lab and site equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and manage waste disposal procedures.

  • Support team training on equipment and safety protocols.

  • Coordinate with IT and administrative teams for data management, security, and site and office support needs.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, safety logs, and equipment maintenance.

  • Ensure proper documentation, updates and accuracy of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Provide weekly progress reports to leadership, outlining operational milestones and identifying areas for improvement.


Preferred experience

  • 2+ years of experience in an R&D laboratory environment.

  • Prior experience with HSE regulation, stock management and orders.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Proactive and action-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.

  • Familiarity with lab management systems and software tools (e.g., LIMS).

  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English.

  • Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in a biology-related startup or biotech company.

    • Knowledge of project management and operational optimization tools.
