Job description

Role Context:

With Pernod Ricard’s ambitious goal of becoming a truly outstanding company, the Operations function plays a pivotal role. This position is part of the Global Research, Innovation & Quality function and aims to drive cost efficiencies and sustainability improvements in packaging. By fostering innovation, enhancing collaboration across affiliates, and ensuring end-to-end project management, the Value Engineering Packaging Manager contributes to building resilience and sustainable growth across Pernod Ricard's product portfolio.

Role Purpose:

The Global Value Engineering Packaging Manager will lead initiatives to optimize packaging design, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability. This includes managing global projects, facilitating ideation sessions, building business cases, and driving implementation. The role also involves developing a strong community of practice within Pernod Ricard, sharing insights, and fostering synergies across brands.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Lead packaging-related projects, including supplier workshops, plant visits, and steering committee meetings.
  • Monitor and track sustainable and cost-saving opportunities, aligning with Pernod Ricard’s strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with affiliates and purchasing teams to identify end-to-end cost-saving opportunities and build business cases.
  • Propose specification rationalization and harmonization based on market benchmarks and internal data analysis.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with marketing and operations to align technical and marketing requirements.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across product management, operations, procurement, and supply chain to ensure project alignment and execution.
  • Foster relationships with local teams and external suppliers, ensuring alignment and support throughout the project lifecycle.

Community Building & Knowledge Sharing

  • Create and lead a community of practice for Value Engineering in Packaging.
  • Develop toolkits, consolidate insights, and share best practices to drive implementation speed and synergies across brands.

Reporting & KPI Tracking

  • Track financial and sustainability KPIs to ensure delivery of anticipated value.
  • Report progress and outcomes to senior stakeholders, aligning with global strategies.

Required Experience & Skills:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in a scientific field, preferably specializing in packaging.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years in packaging development, ideally in wine and spirits, cosmetics, or luxury industries.
  • Proven track record in multinational and complex environments.

Skills:

  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in identifying cost-saving and sustainability opportunities in packaging.
  • Proficiency in English; French is a plus.
