Job description

SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE...

At Pure Storage, security is paramount, not an afterthought—it's critical to data storage. We're seeking an Engineering Manager for our FlashArray Security Team, which has two core functions: developing security-focused product capabilities and championing security standards and best practices for the FlashArray product. This team's influence extends across the organization, impacting other lines of business and products, with high visibility among senior leadership. The ideal candidate will have experience bridging engineering practices and security concerns.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology development and the growth of a successful company. Our open and transparent culture, encompassing both strategy and operations, provides employees with deeper engagement in engineering and business decisions. You'll lead a team of software developers in building our product, collaborating closely with product management, QA, technical writing, and various other software teams.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...

  • Over 4 years of technical management experience
  • More than 5 years of experience in software development
  • Proven track record of managing projects through the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) and delivering products on time.
  • Dedicated focus on customer needs and feedback.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality assurance best practices.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in Software Security concepts.

PREFERRED BUT NOT MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Familiarity with security certifications like FIPS and Common Criteria.
  • Experience managing vulnerability remediation programs.
  • Working knowledge of cryptography, network security and their relationship to control and data planes.
  • The ability to balance usability against security.
  • Proven ability to evolve the SDLC as it relates to security concerns including: penetration testing, OSS scanning, static code analysis, and dynamic code analysis
  • Familiarity with emerging security trends (such as ransomware)

We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the {{OFFICE_LOCATION}} office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.

This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.

And because we understand the value of bringing your full and best self to work, we offer a variety of perks to manage a healthy balance, including flexible time off, wellness resources, and company-sponsored team events - check out purebenefits.com for more information.
