Quality Engineer

This role is offered at our Slough office location.

Your role in our future

  • Responsible for ensuring that the mechanical parts produced meet quality standards required to eliminate or minimise non-quality costs and maximise customer satisfaction whilst ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to.

  • Handle and investigate nonconformity and ensure corrective and preventive measure has been taken to mitigate any impact caused.

  • Lead problem solving activities utilising industry standard methodologies: DMAIC, 8D, 5Whys, Fishbone diagram and FMEA.

  • Support of production inspection and approvals.

  • Documentation creation (procedures, instructions, reports).

  • Short and long term quality KPIs reporting and analysis along with continuous improvements plan.

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. Working as part of a cross functional team to ensure that any NPI projects follow the design and development process to meet the requirements of applicable standards.

  • Work in a team environment to develop and implement good practices that emphasise defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste and provide for continuous improvements.

  • Maintain and follow ISO standards for: ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 45001 Health & Safety, ISO 14001 Environmental within working areas.

  • Control and report all instances of non-conformances and changes to quality trends.

  • Support quality team in internal and external rejection process.

  • Report and monitor KPIs for non-quality cost including scrappage, reworking and parts returning to vendors.

  • Produce written reports and Power Point presentations.

  • Perform root cause analysis and take corrective actions to resolve problems and prevent re-occurrences.

  • Support and assist internal and external calibration process for measuring equipment and tools.

Your profile

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant field.

  • Additional certification in Quality Assurance is a plus.

  • Previous work experience as a Quality Engineer or similar role.

  • Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and testing methodologies.

  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation, 3D modelling and CAD drawings.

  • Familiarity with PPAP, APQP or FAIR.

  • Great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality tools and techniques i.e. DMAIC, PDCA, 8D, 5Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, 5S.

  • Knowledge of MS Office 365, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to details.

  • Effective team player.

  • Accurate and result driven worker.

  • Ability to work on your own initiative with a pro-active strategic approach.

  • Ability to influence individuals and teams to achieve desired goals and objectives.

  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

  • Willingness to learn and desire to develop and expand knowledge in quality excellence.
