Job purpose

External Manufacturing Procurement ambition is to deliver Business Continuity with outstanding Value Creation.

Act as Procurement CHC External Manufacturing, Global Buyer BD&L category.

Be responsible:

  • contribute to and drive the implementation of the CHC Growth Strategy together with Business and respective Regional functional teams incl the establishment of a competitive and trusted local C(D)MO panel
  • to work closely with the Business and Regional Innovation team(s), ensuring alignment of strategy, portfolio, execution, and investment for innovation & NPD. Be a Strategic partner for the Development teams/New Product Development (NPD) centers working for their regional category
  • as the focal point and work closely as strategic partner for the Development teams/New Product Development (NPD) centers, ensuring alignment of strategy, portfolio, execution and investments.
  • translate CHC Business strategy into Procurement CHC External Manufacturing (EM) strategy with full End to End scope
  • for delivering world class total savings objectives at regional level to execute 100% of all levers
  • for ensuring procurement technical excellence (TCO, SRM, Market Intel, Risk Management, Innovation, CSR, HSE, compliance, quality, Sustainability…),
  • for contributing to make vs. buy strategy in the Region, in line with the global strategy, the competitive environment and the local needs
  • for driving savings and gross margin journeys thanks to early involvement and all procurement levers, Design to Value program, procurement development and improvement initiatives jointly with Business: life cycle management, COGS improvement initiatives, products launches/switches
  • for supporting and deploying the Procurement global category strategy and execution for Business Development & Licensing categories
  • for enabling an e2e consistent/innovative/fruitful development of CHC brands
  • support establishment of sound market intelligence on CDMOs and CMOs, ensure a state-of-the-art supplier panel to support CHC Science hubs to deliver on their priorities, focusing on cores expertise, global presence, innovation footprint, capacities, financial health, competitor landscape, benchmarking, and competitiveness.

Ensure that global performance meets expectations on fundamentals (HSE/Sustainability, Quality, Sanofi Manufacturing System, Supply) while identifying and evaluating potential strategic business partners

Key Accountabilities

External Manufacturing Strategy

  • Identification and evaluation of potential strategic business partners/new products and new licensing opportunities within Growth, Global Scientific and M&S Teams
  • Implement and execute e2e procurement relevant strategy to support CHC brands growth and gross margin
  • Establish sound market intelligence on CDMOs and CMOs in BD&L and M&A
  • Contribute into the alignment on future vision for External Manufacturing and key elements thereof, such as strategic partnership model, make-or-buy decision making and portfolio segmentation / rationalization
  • Contribute into the in-depth portfolio segmentation, identify/ confirm preferred suppliers for partnership and develop approach
  • Contribute to build plan to consolidate supply base (both in terms of number of CMOs and SKUs) and related complexity

Operating

  • Develop consistent contracting approach for launches, NPD, licensing and new technologies as well as keep the management of actual brand focused CMOs into daily routine
  • Drive the development of new products and market opportunities (new suppliers, technologies, substitution products, etc) as well strategic negotiations.
  • Provide outsourcing procurement network on new market trends, new technologies and new devices delivery
  • Adapt, develop and implement sourcing strategies according to business objectives and category management orientations

Business Collaboration & Partnering

  • Partner with Growth hubs and Innovation category teams to establish CDMO, CMO panel to deliver the business objectives and priorities.
  • Provide and ensure the execution of the new Procurement EM CHC strategy in alignment with our key stakeholders, category/innovation and IA EM objectives throughout the network of global technology categories.

Dimensions/Scope

  • Global Procurement Category
  • Spend: ~30M€ p.a. (Targeted annual spend increase from licenses of 15%)
  • Contribution to 2,5% YoY savings
  • Complexity: Worldwide with BD&L // 15 CMOs // ~100 SKUs
  • Stakeholders: Senior stakeholders worldwide from Science HUB, Growth Hub IA, CSO, Quality and Regulatory teams
  • New Products scouting and agreements through developing & licensing (worldwide)

Expected Education & Competencies

Education & Experience

  • University degree in Engineering/process, Business Administration, Pharmaceutical or equivalent
  • At least 7 years’ experience in a Management or Transversal role with proven record in term of change management and result delivery - plus experience in Consumer Health Care or FMCG
  • Prior experience in new product development and launches, and perform due diligence for business development and licensing deals
  • Strong business acumen and ability to build sustainable business connectivity
  • Strong capability to manage business and interact with executive level: internal stakeholders, Suppliers and complex environment
  • Solid understanding of both Procurement and Operations; a combination of functional experiences in both Manufacturing and SCM as well as Procurement would be ideal
  • Sound experience in innovation management and business case development
  • Leadership skills/experience with proven track record in building and leading cross functional teams
  • Effective communication skills

Language & Cultural

  • Fluent in French & English
  • Plus: Spanish
  • International and multi-cultural mindset
  • Ability to negotiate with global and regional suppliers and health authorities
