Main responsibilities:

Job purpose

The HSE Audits & Inspections Lead creates, defines, and leads the CHC Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) audit program across all internal manufacturing sites, countries, as well as suppliers of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs), and coordinates its implementation across the organization. He/she is also in charge of preparing sites for regulatory inspections. This role involves scheduling audits with internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring the quality of audit reports, qualifying and training external auditors on internal standards, and following up on action plans to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with HSE regulations & internal standards.

He/She will work in close collaboration with all internal stakeholders including procurement, external manufacturing, API sourcing teams.

The role reports solid line to the Head of HSE Risk management, tools & systems. The person will also have regular interactions with the subject matter experts and the HSE regional heads.

Key results / accountabilities

Audit Coordination:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive audit schedule for all internal manufacturing sites, API suppliers, and CMOs in partnership with key internal stakeholders
  • Liaise with external audit companies to organize and manage audit logistics.
  • Ensure audits are conducted in a timely and efficient manner, in accordance with the organization's requirements.

Quality Assurance:

  • Review and assess the quality of audit reports submitted by external auditors.
  • Ensure audit findings are accurately documented and align with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Provide feedback to auditors on report quality and areas for improvement.

Auditor Qualification:

  • Establish criteria and processes for qualifying external auditors.
  • Conduct assessments to ensure auditors meet the required standards of competence and reliability.

Training and Development:

  • Develop and deliver training programs for auditors on the organization’s internal HSE standards and procedures.
  • Keep auditors informed about updates to HSE regulations and internal policies.

Follow-Up and Action Plans:

  • Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA) resulting from audit findings using our internal HSE management system digital tool (Connect)
  • Track the progress of action plans and ensure timely completion.
  • Prepare and present reports on the status of audit action plans to senior management.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify trends and areas for improvement from audit results and feedback.
  • Collaborate with HSE teams to develop and implement initiatives to enhance HSE performance.
  • Interacts with Internal Audit and Internal Control to identify and implement audit approaches that benefits to CHC.

Compliance:

  • Ensure that all audit activities comply with local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Stay updated on changes to HSE laws and regulations that may impact the organization.

About you

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in HSE auditing or HSE management within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience in auditing suppliers, including APIs and CMOs, is highly desirable.

Soft & technical skills:

  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and standards.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor auditors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and audit management software.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certified Auditor credentials (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001) are highly desirable.
