Job description

Via is using technology to transform transportation around the world. From changing a single person’s daily commute to reducing humanity’s collective environmental footprint — we’ve got huge goals.

As Via's HR Operations Manager, you will play a key role in supporting our employee drivers in Los Angeles. You’ll oversee HR processes, including policy implementation, compliance, employee support, and real-time issue resolution, fostering a positive and fair workplace culture.

Collaborating with Via’s core HR team, you’ll act as a trusted partner, providing a safe space for feedback and ensuring strong relationships with our employees. With great judgment, attention to detail, and a focus on process, you’ll help shape an employee experience that aligns with Via’s mission.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage all aspects of employee onboarding and off-boarding, including pre-employment requirements, orientation, exit interviews, and necessary documentation.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation and unemployment claims, ensuring timely processing and compliance with regulations.
  • You act as the eyes and ears of our employees, and support them through excellent communication and empathy. You will also lead initiatives to enhance employee recognition, engagement, and overall employee experience.
  • Coordinate office logistics and maintain relationships with local vendors to support local business needs.
  • Foster a safe space for our employees and exemplify the Via culture daily, making sure our team has a positive and fulfilling work environment. Provide real-time support for employee inquiries and investigations as necessary.
  • Administer employee benefits, including open enrollment, education, and addressing benefits-related questions.
  • Assist with payroll processes to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain organized and accurate employee records and compliance documentation.
  • Serve as a liaison with unions, if applicable, ensuring alignment with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ensure company policies are communicated, implemented, and consistently applied across the team.
  • Support pre-hiring activities such as interviews, offer letters, and required testing or screenings.
  • Lead termination processes, including sensitive conversations and preparing required notices.
  • Deliver HR training programs, such as anti-harassment training and leadership development for managers.
  • Collaborate closely with our core HR team in New York, and align on best practices to drive efficiency through our processes.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in HR operations, employee relations, or a similar role.
  • Experience working with unionized employee populations and understanding of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with a process-driven mindset.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word).
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Based in the Los Angeles area and comfortable working in person 5 days per week

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable
  • Salary Range: $66,560-$70,000 per year
  • We are proud to offer a generous and comprehensive benefits package, including free medical plans and 401K matching.
