In 2014 Thibault and Karim were in the process of planting the seeds of Virtuo. Their thinking was simple: what if one app could radically change the car rental experience and allow customers to rent cars 24/7 all through their phones. No waiting in line, no paperwork, 0 hassle.

But the truly defining moment that shaped their vision of Virtuo came when they realized how unsustainable car ownership is. Paris has half a million cars on its streets and 95% of the time these cars remain idle. They take up 50% of our urban space and even more shockingly, they are responsible for 12% of all CO2 emissions.

That got them thinking beyond the simple car rental problem. Whilst both love cars and the freedom they enable, they hate the way cars have been shaping our lives, our cities, and our planet. Instead, people should have the freedom to access cars only when they need one and have the power to make them disappear from sight when they don’t.

That’s what Virtuo is all about.

As a team, we have the unique opportunity to create a car on-demand experience that has the potential to impact the lives of millions of users across the globe in a truly significant way.
