Descripción del puesto

Alice&Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.

The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!

We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM. We are growing fast, securing 30 million USD of funding in 2022 to develop our unique technology.

We are 125 and counting, between physicists, PhDs, engineers and experienced business professionals, all united in reaching our ambitious goal. If you are an explorer, craving to challenge yourself and make quantum computing come true, come and join us!

The Hubbard model is the prototypical model representing strongly correlated electrons but algorithms on classical computers are limited due to the exponential scaling of the Hilbert space. As an intern in our Theory team, you will work on establishing the quantum resources required to obtain the ground state of the Hubbard model on the Alice and Bob quantum computer.

Project Summary

  • Familiarize yourself with the quantum computer, the Hubbard model, and quantum algorithms for ground state determination, such as Quantum Phase Estimation.
  • Implement the quantum phase estimation algorithm on a quantum emulator.
  • Optimize the quantum algorithm for the Alice & Bob gate set.
  • Evaluate the quantum resources required to perform the quantum algorithm on real hardware.
  • Requirements

  • You are currently enrolled in a relevant degree at the Master's level and are looking for a 4 to 6-month internship.
  • You have completed coursework in quantum mechanics and numerical simulations.
  • You have a solid understanding of second quantization
  • Knowledge of quantum computing is a plus.
  • You are experienced in Python programming and numerical modeling.
  • You are a curious, motivated, and proactive individual with a desire to contribute to cutting-edge research in a fast-paced environment.
  • Internship Details

The proposed internship period is six months between January 2025 and June 2025. This position is open to applicants who have the right to work in France. Unfortunately, we cannot support visa applications at this time.
