Role:

The position is part of the ESG Rating agency of the EthiFinance Group, which produces solicited and non-solicited ESG ratings of European companies and supplies Second Party Opinions for green, social and sustainability bond issuers across the European Union. We serve customers across Europe.

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated member to join our methodology and products team. The intern will contribute to the following tasks:

• Update, monitor and improve quantitative models

• Support the research, methodology, product and sales teams by ensuring efficient and functioning models and tools

• Help to optimise the data collection and quality process and oversee coverage

• Be a focal point between the different business lines (Methodology, IT, Analytics, Research)

Responsibilities:

1. METHODOLOGY

• Collaborate with the EthiFinance Analytics team on research and development of models and methodologies by exploiting new data sources and other relevant concepts.

• Update and develop tools to support the quality and methodology functions, i.e., to ensure data quality, track outliers and validate ESG scoring models.

• Manage the ESG Ratings universe coverage (monitor indices, delistings, ISIN codes changes, import financial data into the rating platform, etc.) in collaboration with the Product Lead on unsolicited ratings

• Keep watch and contribute to testing AI solutions to support data collection and analysis

2. QUANTITAVE TASKS

• Actively participate in the publication process by conducting thorough data export and performing detailed analysis of the database.

• Perform statistical analysis on indicators to understand the distribution of values and establish thresholds for quality checks.

• Update, monitor and improve the existing models (in particular on carbon emissions estimations and company climate trajectories) and tools (Board independence, portfolio matching, SPO analysis), using Excel and Python.

• Work closely with the IT team on the maintenance of production tools and ongoing IT developments (contributing to the writing of specifications, testing new developments, etc.)

• Provide Excel,VBA and Python support to the ESG Agency team

Reporting line

The candidate will report directly to the Global Head of ESG Methodology and Products.

• Internship – 6 months, starting asap

Profile:

• Currently in master’s degree in engineering, statistics, project management, econometrics (or similar)

• High motivation to contribute to a ESG and sustainability focused organization

• Great interpersonal skills and team spirit

• Ability to work independently, in an organised, thorough and efficient manner

• Initiative and ability to propose new ideas

• Programming: good knowledge of at least one of the following languages: Python, R or VBA

• Excellent level of English, both written and spoken

• Good level of French and/or German and/or Spanish, both written and spoken

• A first experience linked to environmental/sustainability topics would be an advantage
