Software Engineers in the Tech team work hand-in-hand with the Product team, from exploration, design, and roadmap prioritization to implementation, and deployment in production. As VP Engineering, you will have a crucial role in ensuring the growth and success of the Tech organization. Reporting directly to Alex, the CTO and co-founder of Joko, you will take the leadership of the whole Tech team. You will manage Engineering Managers at the head of teams working on cutting-edge technical projects that encompass various domains (mobile development, AI/ML, infrastructure, real-time processing of large data streams, etc.).
Responsibilities:
Engineering Organization Build-Up: Cultivate a strong, cohesive engineering organization through strategic recruitment, effective onboarding, and continuous process improvements that enhance efficiency and collaboration.
People Development: Champion the professional growth of team members, providing clear career paths and opportunities for skill enhancement to support both individual and team success.
Strategic Alignment: Collaborate closely with Product and other key stakeholders to align engineering efforts with company objectives, ensuring prioritization, seamless communication, and cross-functional synergies.
Technical Leadership: Guide and support technical decision-making, offering mentorship in both technical challenges and project management to empower teams in delivering high-quality solutions.
Experience: You have 7+ years of experience, with at least 4 years in a management position. You have already managed Software Engineers and Engineering Managers.
Communication: You have strong written and verbal communication skills, and you are able to explain something complex in simple terms.
Problem solver: You have strong analytical skills, you are creative and pragmatic, and you know how to solve problems quickly.
Mindset: You have an entrepreneurial mindset, you like challenges and you like getting hands-on.
Fast learner: You are comfortable in any technical environment and can quickly learn about new subjects.
Attention to detail: You know that the devil is in the details, and you have a talent for spotting flaws when they exist.
Advanced technical expertise: You possess extensive experience in software architecture and design, demonstrating a deep understanding of complex systems and robust software engineering practices. You are constantly looking at emerging technologies and you keep a close eye on the latest trends in the domain.
Efficiency: You are fond of productivity tools and able to deliver on time on projects with many stakeholders.
Languages: You are fluent in English both written and spoken, as we are expanding internationally soon. Speaking French is not required.
