Job Description

Join Wakam's Underwriting leadership team as a key player responsible for product and pricing strategies across the UK and Europe. Reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), you will lead a team of two experienced professionals to deliver cutting-edge pricing solutions and portfolio management practices.

This Paris-based role offers flexibility, with the opportunity for hybrid work arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Report directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and lead the creation and delivery of our pricing analytics strategy.
  • Mentor and guide the team, ensuring they achieve industry best practices in portfolio management and pricing.

Technical Excellence:

  • Collaborate with pricing and underwriting teams to develop a robust portfolio management framework.
  • Support the CUO by developing and presenting Monthly Underwriting Performance Reviews.
  • Work with key stakeholders across underwriting, pricing, reserving, finance, and reinsurance teams to drive cross-functional initiatives.
  • Execute our pricing model strategy, focusing on Predictive Loss Ratios and price optimization.

Innovation & Development:

  • Spearhead the development of our new pricing engine in collaboration with the Digital Team.
  • Engage with Pricing teams and Line of Business Heads to identify and solve issues through advanced analytics, such as technical forecasting and exposure accumulation.
  • Collect and analyze data from partners via insurance and non-insurance databases.

✯ Profile requirements

  • Proven experience in P&C insurance pricing, with expertise in portfolio management.
  • Strong skills in traditional pricing tools (EMBLEM, AKUR8) and open-source programming (Python, R).
  • Exposure to machine learning models and data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Fluency in English; French is a plus.
